About Me

CURRENT MISSION
My current mission is to be the real me.

ABOUT ME
I'm part of the truth - and so are you, really :)

Feeling awkward with silence merely teaches us something about ourselves...
Nevertheless I'll try to answer any questions you have for me with anything I can come up with.

If you're looking for a historical city guide, you'd have to swipe right. I'm just your fellow traveler, or some local chap on the road of life you can have a nonsensical chat with. Speaking of which, I don't drink a lot. I do drink, but only to get light in the head. Let's say I don't see the points of being drunk ;) I'd pick a good night's rest over a bend-over barf-o-rama anytime.

PHILOSOPHY
Take it as it comes, greet it as it goes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When you have the opportunity to see other parts of the world... grab them.
When you have neither time nor money to see other parts of the world, why not settle for stories of far-away countries for a while? They might take you there...

I like what is at the heart of Couchsurfing: sharing! Sharing in any way. But sharing!

I don't ask people to bring souvenirs. You can't bring me souvenirs, by the way. You cán bring me a gift, which might just become a souvenir... Just know this: I will never remember people by what they have brought in raw goods. I remember people by what they have offered in kindness straight from the heart.

I don't ask people to cook (although I'm the last to keep them from doing so - in which case I'd even consider dragging an extra chair to the table and join in) .

I don't ask people to help me doing the dishes or other forms of cleaning (although I'm the last to keep anyone from doing so - in which case I'd even consider putting up a song that complements the job)

I would, however, ask people ... to at least try to start a conversation. I want to learn about the world, your homes, your visions, your ways...

Interests

'Does anybody else feel like a little... giggle...' . If that quote rings a bell, I'm pretty sure we're on the same frequency!
I'm all (or at least mostly) about humor and language.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2009 I went on a solo hiking adventure to Santiago de Compostela for a month, starting at Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (at the foot of the Pyrenees). Ever since I returned from that trip, I described it to me and others as what it was: something metaphorical. Each day was as it is in life. I walked alone in the morning and, as the day evolved, others crossed my path, only to stay for a while and disappear again, only to reappear on some unexpected moment, on any possible day. At the end, of course, they had to disappear for god knows how long... :)

Teach, Learn, Share

My trip to Santiago taught me the important lesson that the best way to remain humble in life is to get outside - if not physically, then to be taken, moved by stories.
Travelling teaches us about the many definitions of truth... the omnipresence of happiness and suffering, and that for a lot of us, the grass will always appear greener on the other side.

Although I haven't been to space, the view from up there must be what teaches us how to put things into perspective. I once saw a documentary about the first astronauts who had been out there. That one astronaut... I saw the bigger picture reflected in his eyes... Near the end of it, looking back at his voyage he said: I don't know what it all means yet... but I've been lucky.
