Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

to chill

ABOUT ME

Elliot: I love to travel but I love staying home, and I love a lot and I hate very little. I'm all about the idea of doing everything in life as relaxed as possible, and I believe in achieving this through meditation and insight. Some people call this laid back lifestyle lazy yet I'm full of ambition, and just because I haven't gone to college doesn't mean I'm not learning everyday, and just because I take my time making major life decisions doesn't mean I won't ever make them.

Emily: I feel best when creating; connections, music, art, movement, writing, and even better when I get to share it all. I think about a lot, don't claim to know too much, listening, reading, I want to learn as much as I can I like to do that by meeting people and going places. I'm very easily entertained and entertaining.

PHILOSOPHY

Elliot: I've been trying to figure out the meaning of life since I was like 8. At 20, I've given up. If I spend my time just enjoying myself and doing good for myself and for others I'm happy enough and don't need meaning.

I believe in cause and effect, AKA, Karma. I believe that when doing good in life it makes you feel good and gives your smile and your face a certain glow. I believe that other people subconsciously pick up on this glow and respond with more positive energy in your direction.

Lao Tzu says: "All streams flow to the sea because it is lower than they are. Humility gives it its power" [translation by Stephen Mitchell]. I believe by humility he also means chillin, and by laying low and taking life as it comes, calmly, I can let those streams flow through me, artistically, spiritually, socially, intellectually. Thus by doing very little, and participating as I see fit, much life force can be given back through these facets.

Emily: ditto. haha. Life can be full of wonder if you wonder

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Elliot: Right now I'm surfing on my dads couch, so I can't really host, but I love meeting interesting people and I have this theory that CS is full of them. So if you're in the area of Sylvania/Toledo Ohio (like near the mall) and want to get coffee and talk about travels or see the city a bit or need a ride or something, hit me up. Also, I'm going traveling soon and when I get back home I should have my own place with a couch to surf on.

Emily: ditto

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Elliot: I only couchsurfed once, I was staying at a hostel in SF and long story short met another traveler who wanted to hitchhike with me to seattle up highway one. He was tired of spending money on the hostel so he found a couch to surf on in another part of the city. a day or two later his host invited me to come crash on his couch as well and we got along amazingly talking about music and life. the next morning our host, Amir, drove us across the city and dropped us off at the base of the golden gate bridge and we walked across that gateway to a whole new life for ourselves.

Emily: Super interested.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Elliot: I'm all about teaching, learning, and sharing ideas about how to live life more fit for the given individual. Learning and teaching should not be something so general but something catered to the individual's unique position in life. I believe all people possess knowledge that most any other human could use if only they could find common ground over which to share it.

As for things I can teach; how to pack a backpack, how to hitchhike and live to tell the tale, how to chill, how to fold a shirt and how to eat an apple. I can teach a person how I write poetry and maybe my technique will work for you, or maybe I could help you find your own technique. I can teach you how to spell Mississippi, how to juggle, how to eat for $5 a day, how to keep a notebook, how to take a picture, how to braid a cord and how to blow some money on things we don't need but still really want.

Things I want to learn: How to juggle 4 balls, how to do a backflip, how to go really fast on a long board AND stop (what I forgot to learn last time I tried), how to breathe air like its water, how to be sustainable, how to build a log cabin, how to build a log cabin for free, how to improve my memory, how to be organized without trying, how to play a hand drum, and how to give a tattoo

Emily: Teach; how to tap dance, ballet dance, dance dance, how to write in cursive, play banjo, guitar, piano, sing, paint, color inside lines, phonics, whistle, bake, plenty of things!
Learn; what you're all about, theories, physics, what your favorite people are all about,
Share; my creations, company, possessions, insight
