About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel through Australia and New Zealand :)

ABOUT ME

Yep, my real name is indeed China, just like the David Bowie song. I get asked this a lot so I figured I would clear it up for you right off the bat!

I love meeting new people from all around the world, especially when they entice me to stay in their country for a while. Be careful, invite me anywhere, and i'll most likely take up the opportunity in a heartbeat.

I am at that stage in life where I am trying to "figure it out." I was freaking out about it earlier this year, but now I've realized that I need to just sit back and see where the wave takes me. I'm currently living in Australia at the moment and intend to travel all over the country.

PHILOSOPHY

Begin anywhere. -John Cage

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed a lot throughout my time in Europe and to be honest, it really transformed my experience..I hold forever in my heart some of the best and fondest memories of the wonderful hosts who took me into their homes and showed me their hometowns with such passion and excitement. It truly was an incredible experience and I owe soo much to this website!!

Interests

venturing out to new lands, hiking, road trips, collecting records and books, film marathons of my favorite directors, live music, dancing until my legs feel like taffy, singing! (I can do a mean cover of The Beatles' Oh Darling)

I LOVE, love, love running. I have ran the San Francisco Half Marathon for 2 consecutive years. I am hoping to do a full marathon while I'm here in Australia.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i can't pinpoint exactly ONE amazing thing. i've been fortunate enough to have experienced a slew of mind-blowing adventures.... if i had to pick one thing (ok maybe 3)
1) Meeting the most amazing group of people in Lisbon, and deciding to spend a summer with them. Portugal is one of my favorite places in the world. I encourage everyone to visit that magical place!
2) 10 countries in 21 days. Decided to do the big trip after I read Dave Eggers' "You Shall Know Our Velocity"... YEP, totally modeled my trip after the premise of this book!
3) Climbing the H of the Hollywood sign back when I was 16. Pretty electrifying to be able sit there and see how wonderfully massive LA is. Helicopters and "security" came 20 minutes later, but I was able to stumble down and run away just in time.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, United States, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Portugal, South Korea, United Kingdom
