About Me

Hi there !

I'm a student at a Graduate Engineering School in France called Centrale Lille, and I am on a gap year in Linköping (soon over... sadly), Sweden, to get some hands on experience in the biomedical domain. My boyfriend is also here with me and he is studying aeronautics (typical).
Apart from that, I love to hike and discover new places. Two of the most memorable experiences I had were the West Highland Way in Scotland, and the Westweg in the Black Forest in Germany.
This year's epic travels were our stay in Lapland, and the road trip in the Lofoten Islands. But I also enjoyed some leisure time in the region of Linköping, and visited Stockholm, Uppsala, Göteborg, and Bergen.
I play the violin (even joined the symphony orchestra of Linköping !) and love to jam and improvise. But I don't usually take it on my travels... I am an occasional runner and I enjoy practicing yoga (a remnant of the contemporary dancing). I make a conscious effort to reduce my impact on the environment, by cycling to work despite the hill (okay... I have no choice, but still), buying second hand (right... I can't afford new stuff anyway), eating organic (working on that vegetarian trend !) and reducing waste.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have traveled quite a bit, and often slept in difficult conditions. We spent some nights in a tent in Lofoten (hunting the Aurora...! And yes we caught a few ;) ), and in the car (hum, not as bad as you might think), but that was part of the adventure and so much more real than booking a hotel.
What we missed though is the contact with other people and sharing and discovering each other's cultures. The first flat we rented was a shared apartment with some other students, and we loved it! So this seems to be a good way to reconnect.
I just love the concept...! Airbnb&blablacar revisited of sorts...

Music, Movies, and Books

A favorite book in French : L'écume des Jours, Boris Vian... so poetic :)
I used to read a lot, not so much any more because it interferes with my work and sleep (you believe that? ^^ well I do find it hard to put down a good book).
I listen to all sorts of music, ranging from classical to rock, and swing, blues, jazz, and I can stand decent rap and metal (small doses. My boyfriend is the one who would actually spontaneously put these on).
Aaaand a movie, well I'd go for a Tarentino, pick whichever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camped on a beach north of the arctic circle, under an amazing display of northern lights...

What I Can Share with Hosts

My enthusiasm and conversation, my French touch in a home made meal, a fair share of experimentation (ever tried this epic aubergine chocolate cake?), and pretty much anything (not my toothbrush).
