About Me

I am a poet and humanitarian, traveling in Scotland with my partner Lucid to connect to the land and the people. I have ancestors from Scotland and I have long been interested in coming to Alba. I love wild places, clean waters, and creative, kind people. Lucid and I run an off grid field kitchen serving refugees in Ukraine (we are off to Ukraine next). I write reems of poetry, am working on my first book of fiction, and I host weekly creative writing circles which help others find their creative voices and be playful and spontaneous in their writing. I have lived all around the United States, as well as Southern Mexico, Peru, Brazil, and Lucid and I now live in his hometown in Alaska! We have 20 chickens and a very happy Mexican street dog named Bella back home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are so glad to be traveling and would love to meet other interesting, kind, creative, thoughtful and compassionate folks along the way. I believe in the power of coincidences and chance connections! And couch surfing can be a way to meet people we would otherwise miss. We are of course looking to save money as well, we are humanitarians running a kitchen that we started in Ukraine, and are on a budget on this visit to Scotland, before we spend 6 weeks in Ukraine.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love folk and instrumental music from around the world, classical music, acoustic music... kutumba, philip glass, nina simone, fiona apple, angel olsen, ethiopian jazz.... best recent movie I've seen is "the taste of things" and I also love the scifi show "foundations" and song of solomon by toni morrison is one of my favorite books, along with bean trees, white oleander, all of rilke's poetry and hd's "trilogy"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lucid started a humanitarian aid organization from scratch using recycled materials at the beginning of the Ukraine war, in Lviv, not knowing the language. It is an off grid kitchen which cooks on firewood, and has recently served its 400,000th meal.
Chloe moved to southern Mexico at the start of the pandemic, taught herself spanish, then spent a year in Peru with medicine people, painting murals, hiking in the andes, before moving back to southern mexico to run a mini hostel in Mayan lands in Chiapas.
(then we met! and now we live in alaska together)

Teach, Learn, Share

we are clever, kind, playful people who love to talk about the mysteries of life, we can share our stories from living around the world, we can lead impromptu writing circles, we like games, and we are interested in learning most things! Botany and plant knowledge, ancient history, less ancient history, folk stories, culture, music, anthropology... etc.!

What I Can Share with Hosts

You will have two friends to visit in Alaska! We are great company and deeply curious about the world, we love to cook meals with and for friends, and we are always looking to forge new connections with kindred spirits.
