About Me

I'm a French native and recently became a permanent resident of Canada, the place I now call home!

I recently move to Sherbrooke, Quebec, and currently live in a house-sharing with 3 lovely roommates. We are not hosting anyone, but it would be my pleasure to meet up with couchsurfers exploring Sherbrooke.

I'm a consultant for horticultural (fruits and veggies) producers in the Sherbrooke and Lac Megantic area. I run around farms all summer. It's a pretty cool job!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Being a twin sister who went to summer camps every year growing up, spent my high school years in boarding school, and house-sharing my entire adult life. My life is all about people.

Interests

As I mentioned, I am a people-oriented person, though I enjoy quiet and alone time too. I often have a few friends over for dinner, beers or for board games nights. You've read correctly: I'm not a party animal, but I promise I'm fun to be around! :)

My appreciation of farming goes beyond my work hours. I often visit farms on the weekends or while on vacation, and would love to do so when traveling.

I occasionally go indoor climbing, running, biking and swimming on my own or with friends. At least once a month, I go hiking with friends. I live in an area close (30 minutes to 5-hour drive) to gorgeous outdoor sceneries. The fall this year was particularly spectacular in Quebec.

Music, Movies, and Books

PODCASTS
I need to start this section with podcasts, because they highlight my commute. My top four are: RadioLab, How I build this, Serial, Boomerang (a French one).

BOOKS
Here are a few I really enjoyed.
> The Omnivore's dilemma by Michael Pollan
> "Rien ne s'oppose à la nuit" (Nothing Holds Back the Night) by Delphine de Vigan. A tough, yet beautiful read.
> Moonwalking with Einstein's by Joshua Foer
> Animals in Translation by Temple Grandin

MUSIC
I'm mostly an indie, pop and "oldies" gal, but open to all sorts of music.

Here are a few at the top of my chart these days:
Ben Mazue - Vivant, Stromae - Papaoutai, OK Go - I Won't Let You Down, James Bay - Let it go, Ólafur Arnalds - Fyrsta, Röyksopp - Royksopp Forever, Supertramp - Logical Song, The Smiths - Take me home tonight, The Four Tops - I can't help myself.

MOVIES
Mommy, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The intouchables, Persepolis, ....
Can you tell I'm not a big action movies fan? :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Without a doubt, being an AFS exchange student in Oregon 2006/2007 was the most transformative experience of my life thanks to my host family and other wonderful people I met on the way. There was a time before, and one after.

What I Can Share with Hosts

- Hopefully, thought-provoking conversations!
- I really enjoy cooking for others, rather than for myself alone, and often have dinners with friends. I can definitely share kitchen time with you!
- A bilingual cat joke for those who understand both French and English.
- My parking superpower.
