About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To tour a dance piece around England
ABOUT ME
"Site for Summer" is the title of my tour. I will be visiting: Widnes, Leeds, Harrogate, Solihull, Leicester, Bath, Bradford-on-Avon, Dorking, Hove, Gravesend, Canvey Island, Cambridge and Birmingham. My Press Release This summer, Joel Pearson is taking to the streets and fields of the country in his solo dance piece “Site for Summer”. The nineteen year old dancer is visiting the hometowns of his peers, and is performing at locations that are important to his friends at each location, including Birmingham, Bristol, Brighton and Bath. A Site Specific tour is fairly rare, as you can’t transport a location such as a park with a water fountain somewhere else and so must tour a Site Concept, but is rarer still to be performed by a student in his first year. The concept is that he is performing in a location that is important to someone’s past that is in the audience; hopefully others share a memory about the location in their own pasts. Follow my tour! 23rd June - 20th July! I will also be hoping to film my tour and make a documentary from it.
PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy? I don't know I have never really kept a diary but have written poetry with beautiful pens and books so it's a little difficult to pour out my heart V.S mind theories to a computer screen but will happily talk in person.
I guess my main question in life is "Why not?", mainly, why not do the things that make you happy?
I love life at the moment and I just enjoy things while they lasts.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have just started really.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None so far.
Interests
Primarily I want to be a choreographer, so movement and time and space are massive things I am interested in and it really changes how I see the world sometimes
I'm very interested in dance and how small the world of dance actually is as well as its capacity to bring people together in a great way.
I love music, but nothing specifically; my taste is really quite broad and if somebody plays me their favourite song, I would probably like it. I just love all well played/arranged/good lyrics songs. I'm also getting in to soundscapes to dance to in a big way.
My family especially my auntie into art and I find it interesting to explore the nature V.S nurture argument regarding my decision to follow a career in dance and choreography.
I have recently really been getting a liking for story telling (listening) and would like to experience more.
I also like long talks, games of chess, cooking, and can offer a performance to anyone who will let me couch surf.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm not very organised with lists... so
Film,
Sherlock Holmes, The Da Vinci code, iRobot, Ice age, Shrek, Toy Story, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Batman Begins and Dark Knight, Hancock, Crank, Transporter, Memoirs of a Geisha, Rent, Rocky Horror Picture Show, American Beauty, Stardust, A series of unfortunate events, X - Men, Underworld, House of flying daggers, Coco avant Chanel, Kill bill.
Again, I love film and if it's your favourite, I will probably like it.
TV,
Dr Who, The Apprentice, Mock the Week, family guy, The Simpsons, Antique's road show, four rooms, dragons den.
I don't watch an awful lot of TV because I haven't had a TV for a year so I got out of the habit.
Books,
To be honest I haven't read a book for simple enjoyment since the start of my degree because there is so much reading to do for my course. I do like to read poetry though.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did a contact improvisation festival this Easter which was pretty amazing.
I also feel that with dance, I decided what I wanted to do, and did it.
Teach, Learn, Share
Dance. I can teach contemporary dance classes, improvisation class and choreography workshops. - What I know at least.
