About Me

Hi! I'm Christine (or Chris), I'm originally from South Shields in the Northeast of England but I moved to Leeds in 2008 for studies and have lived here ever since! I'm obsessed with travel - doing it, planning it, reading about it, pouring over photos of it. The world is too huge to stay in one place! Come explore it with me :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In June 2016 I'll be boarding a one way flight to Rio de Janeiro and I'll spend the following year travelling and volunteering my way around South America! I don't just want to float from one party hostel to another, I'm interested in meeting local people, making friends around the globe and experiencing a lesser-known side to the places I visit!

Music, Movies, and Books

I read anything and everything - at the moment I'm pouring over travel writers and international fiction although I'm also a self-professed Harry Potter mega fan (not ashamed). I love nature documentaries (and dreaming of visiting all the amazing places in them) and can spend hours binge watching American sitcoms. All time favourite TV show is Grey's Anatomy, 12 seasons of dedication. Music wise, I like a bit of everything! Latino and African dance music is a bit of a guilty pleasure after a few drinks but I love old school disco, funk & soul, ska, reggae, rock and everything in between!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent an amazing 6 months living and volunteering in Peru back in 2010. Split between building houses in the shanty towns surrounding Lima and teaching English in a tiny village in the Andes - it's left me with the travel bug ever since. I fell in love with the communities I lived in and the people I met. It's inspired everything I've done since, best experience of my life!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm always happy to help people practice their English and give tips and advice if anyone is planning a trip to the UK. I'm a fairly good cook (I think? My friend might disagree..) and would love to rustle up a tasty meal or yummy cake to say thank you to any host! Happy to help out around the house too, I'll try my hand at anything really.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Cambodia, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Peru, Poland, Spain, Sweden
