About Me

I'm a huge nerd who's worked as a software engineer in San Francisco for the past several years. I'm a collector of hobbies and silly skills who loves to teach what he knows and meet people who can teach me something about the world I didn't know.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm beginning a year long journey to interact with as many cultures as possible and find all of the ways life can be lived. I'm looking for locals who are able to point me in the that direction, teach me a few words of the local language, and help me understand what it means to be them

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh lord, how do I filter this down.

Music: Honestly I'm a background music person. Long as it has a beat I tend to be happy.

Movies: Happy Feet. Yes. Happy Feet

Books: OH YEA LETS TALK ABOUT BOOKS. We got "Dictator's Handbook" for y'all political folks, or Scalzi's "Old Man's War" for a good Sci-fi Adventure. "Three Body Problem" is the first series where the entire trilogy just got better the entire way. I just finished David Foster Wallace's "Consider the Lobster", which was a positive delight. "The Line becomes a River" by Cantú was a wonderful memoir on the US border.

Let's stop there. I can keep going when we hang out.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I landed an accidental front flip on my snowboard and then got so excited about it that I caught an edge and face-planted.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’ve picked up a few hobbies over the years that I’d happily share the basics of. I’m decent at Krav Maga, running, swing dancing, and gymnastics. I’m also a professional programmer and trained scientist and can teach basically anything in that realm.

I’m also thoroughly interested in picking up new skills, so let’s say “passion” is something I can share?
