About Me

I'm 26 years old and was not enjoying my engineering job in Australia so I quit in January 2023 and plan to travel as much of Latin America as I can. One of my favourite things about travelling is forcing myself into new situations and meeting new people. In the past I have been quite introverted but I'm finding I always feel happiest when I'm connecting with interesting people. I'm very open minded and no matter what your background or mindset, I have no doubt we will get along.

--------

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The main reason I'm couch surfing is to try and meet more people and get more of a local feel to the places I visit. I love travelling but I sometimes hate the feeling of being a tourist. Having conversations and interactions with real people that live in the places in visiting makes me feel much more grounded and immersed in the location and culture.

Interests

I just about always have a camera with me (at the moment I'm traveling with my DSLR) but I'm trying to take the ethos of shooting film so I don't get trapped behind the lens for too long. I love cycling I think it's one of the best ways to get around and my bike is the thing I miss most back home. I've done a little bit of bikepacking but am itching to do some more. And the more I travel, the more I eat and the more I realise how important food is to culture and how it can be a center piece for human connection. I miss cooking big meals in my own kitchen but am always looking for inspiration, or a recipe to take home and try. I also love to fill my time playing games from different card games (can teach you a few good ones!), backgammon, dudo, and board games.

Music, Movies, and Books

At the moment I'm listening to a lot of Gustavo Santaolalla Weyes Blood, C. Tangana, reading Before the Coffee gets Cold, and watching How to Change your Mind and the Good Place but that all may change tomorrow! I'm pretty versatile in what I like.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently I just got back from hiking the O Trek in Torres del Paine and while not the most unique thing in the world, I was taken aback by the beauty of it and I think it is the definition of awesome.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am more than happy to help with English in exchange for some Spanish practice. I have only been learning for just over a month and I have a long way to go but I'm an eager learner. Aside from that, I love sharing everything from stories to ideas, recipes to book recommendations.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A wealth of stories, laughs, drinks, meals, insights, opinions and am open for all the same. I am still quite new to couch surfing but I am excited to share as much as I can with the people I meet.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Chile, Italy, Japan, Thailand, United States, Uruguay, Viet Nam
