Overview
About Me
Hello world, I am an aimless twentysomething living in Hamburg, Germany who loves traveling and other festivities. I'm easy-going, cheerful, and sometimes a bit of a space cadet if we're honest. I'm probably the least American American, I was raised with proper Midwestern politeness but came to Europe probably because it seemed so much fancier than back home. I like Big Intellectual Topics and read books about Them a lot, but I try not to be an asshole about it. Otherwise I am really into films, of all sorts, as well as coffee and bicycles to fit the hipster profile. Though I'm American, I'm real good at German and French (though French is rusty from disuse).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've got a gig teaching English in Hamburg which leaves me with a lot of free time, which I like to commit to travel. I like traveling and meeting new people, which are the big reasons for couch serving. If you have me for a guest, you can guess I'd be up for: hanging out, long conversations, exploring the city (especially on bike), cooking, and going out during the evenings.
Interests
Listening to music, watching movies, reading, writing, learning languages (onto Spanish and Latin at the moment), taking bike trips (this year's project), wanting a dog (cats come in 2nd here), and cafes

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: current favorites include FKA Twigs, Beach House, the Drums, Flatbush Zombies, Modeselektor, Siriusmo, Le1f
Movies: everything directed by Linklater, Akira, Casino Royale, The Matrix, that new Mad Max, Godard, Kubrick, Blade Runner, Enter the Void, all that shit.
Books: When it comes to fiction, Burroughs, David Foster Wallace, Hesse, and Joyce, basically I try and read classics but it's slow when the internet's there to distract you. Most of my reading goes to philosophy (Spinoza and Deleuze are my favorites) and other kind of dorky academic topics (history, cultural theory, etc.)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Avoided working a full time job until now? I've also recently thrown a banana grown in Africa, shipped to Singapore, flown to New York, then given to me on board out of my fourth-story window in Hamburg. I think that's fun to think about.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach basic cooking things or how to write impeccable English. I can quote history books and tell you what that word means in the original Latin, Greek, or Germanic.
Help me learn about you and what you've got going on. I am mostly here to listen.
