About Me
Good day! My girlfriend and I are traveling through the North Island of New Zealand for a month before we move to the South Island and begin accepting couch surfers ourselves. We love new friends, travel (been all around South East Asia (SEA) and the U.S. so pick our brains please!), good food, cooking, yoga, and outdoor anything (hiking, rock climbing, camping, etc...). We have not tried couchsurfing officially yet, but of course we've stayed on friends, or friends of friends, or acquaintances who became friends couches/extra beds so we now how to be proper guests! A rule I like to follow is to never show up empty handed when visiting a friend, so that sums up how I like to treat my friends!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We are on couch surfing because we love meeting new people and traveling by way of immersion. While in SEA we loved staying at homestays, especially in the smaller villages of the truly indigenous people. Anyways, when we were back in San Diego and Colorado we loved having friends or friends of friends staying with us to hear about their lives, exchange some culture, and lend a place to stay with the comforts of home for however long they needed. Even back to high school I would bring my friends who did not have the best home situations to my house to stay so that they would keep going to school and not get into trouble, and my parents would always accept in new 'brothers' of mine as their own! But now, we are looking for some places to lay our heads while we travel around the North Island, especially before we buy a van, and then when we get a place on the South Island we look forward to returning the favor to the couch surfing community!
As of 1/10/17 we have not found a van yet in Auckland, and are looking for a place to stay. After we buy a van, we may be looking for places to park our van around the North Island when we can not find camp sites and such.

Music, Movies, and Books
I pretty much like most types of music, there is a time and place for almost anything. Mostly I like rock, classic rock, bluegrass, blues, hip hop not rap, jazz, and then anything live! Movies, well I like to really think during movies, or laugh hard. I also do not like to watch trailers or hear much of anything about movies aside from a few words or the actors or even just the rotten tomatoes score and then watch it. Currently I am reading some Tom Robbins books, and in the past I have read a lot of Non-Fiction either about the environment, politics, adventure sports, or biographies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Rock climbed a 2000 foot route (23 pitches) at El Potrero Chico, Mexico called Timewave Zero.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach about sustainability, politics, the environment, engineering, or nothing at all! I love to learn about anything new, especially when people are very passionate about quirky things. Then as long as we share some laughs and stories I'm happy!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well, I'm known to bring over some gifts. My girlfriend teaches yoga, and I will apply my environmental engineering knowledge anywhere you want! Been thinking of designing a rainwater catchment? Or tap into the groundwater well but not sure if the water is drinkable? Let me know!
