Overview
About Me
I am doing a lot of traveling to attend conferences, shop for consulting gigs, and looking for a permanent job. The best part is all the great people I meet along the way. I hosted a lot when I lived in Uganda, and look forward to hosting again once I get a permanent living situation.
CURRENT MISSION
To live this life with minimal impact, and to leave it having had maximal impact
ABOUT ME
Currently traveling the country looking for consulting and job opportunities. But along the way, seeing as much as possible of what our country has to offer. I'm a bit of a food tourist, and no matter where I go I look at the menu and ask "What can I get here that I can't get anywhere else?" I'm never disappointed!
PHILOSOPHY
I'm a pretty low-key person. Never one to howl at the moon; I'd rather contemplate the howlings of others and learn from them. I hope I never miss an opportunity to make a connection with someone, and learn what it means to be them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am currently between jobs and locations, and therefore cannot host. I will for sure start hosting again once I get a permanent living situation.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I hosted a dozen or so folks when I lived in Uganda; being near the airport made that easy! Lately I've been surfing in the US, and am grateful for all the wonderful folks who've helped a guy keep travel expenses low and opened their lives to me.
Interests
Biking, walking, reading, writing, gardening, birding. I love exploring new places on my own or with others.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: the ones I've written! :) Books by others: Vonnegut, John Updike, Mark Twain, Tolstoy, Tom Perrotta. Movies: anything offbeat but not freaky--make me think and I'll love it. (Wait, is this Couchsurfing.org or Match.com?)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Only one? Yikes! Well, it's my profile, so the top five most amazing things: 1) spending two years in Uganda with the Peace Corps, 2) being married and being part of her wonderful children's lives, 3) getting my PhD, 4) working hard to be a person I'm proud of being, and 5) hasn't happened yet :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a diverse background in agriculture, with active interests in global food security an making sure everyone has enough good food to eat. I'm also interested in writing.
