About Me
Hi people, you already know my name, age, where I come from and what I am studying. May I write some more of where I am from, how I live and what I am doing in my life. The city of Winterthur is very close to Zürich, the train takes only 20 minutes to get there, but living in Winterthur is much calmer and more familiar even, although the city has 120 thousand inhabitants. In Winterthur, I live at a shared flat with my two best friends, one is studying art at "zhdk" in Zürich and the other an electrician. One out of many things we share is the same taste in music - which is from techno to rock, metal to punk but also nice and calm ambient and minimalist sounds. We love to make music together using bass- and electric guitar, synthesizer and mixing up vinyl. Moreover, we're sometimes doing small parties for a friend's birthday playing our music.
Maybe you are asking yourself what my studies are about. International Affairs and Governance is a broad spectrum of disciplines from economics, business, law to political science and languages. My personal interests lie in political science, especially in the history of political ideas and the history of the modern state. As an example, I can point out a lecture I took this spring semester. It was about the history and the current political situation in the area of southeastern Europe - we discussed the multiethnic constellations in this are, the potentials for conflict and the communist history of many states, such as the former Yugoslavia and Albania. Then we did a 15-day trip to Serbia, Macedonia and Albania to do a "Field-Research", which means to experience the whole situation with the own senses, take notes and drawing or break up links between reality and theory.
This is an example where I have come into contact with many different groups of people for whom I have the greatest respect. Moreover, I worked several times as a student-job in an asylum center in Switzerland, where I got in contact with so many different people from all over the world with different backgrounds. This, out of several experiences, have taught me a sense of broad social understanding, solidarity and empathy. I have this tolerant attitude towards all social groups, who also respect this attitude.
I hope I could give you a little insight into my character/person with this text. Looking forward to great couch-surfing experiences!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's the first time I'm trying couch-surfing, because I really like to travel slowly and meet people along the way. This summer I want to go from Switzerland to Portugal and back (by tramping or taking the train) and try to have a good time on the trip. To be honest, as most students I also don't have a lot of financial resources, that's why I am always having a tent with me and using platforms as couch-surfing. I also very strongly believe, that even if I had money the experience you get by travailing slowly, meeting other people, having insight in other social realities, you cannot buy with money.
