About Me

Hi! So, I'm Chris, I'm an aspiring documentary filmmaker. And I LOVE travelling.

I first got a taste for it on a two week trip around Iceland, but since spending 11 weeks travelling through Africa, I'm hooked. I'm looking to see as much of the world as I can, meet new people, share experiences, learn, grow, etc... I always take a 35mm camera on my trips, and recently I've started putting some of my photos and stories online, which you can see here if you're interested: https://www.instagram.com/moreroadthanmoney/

On a filmmaking side, I'd love to tell interesting stories, educate, inspire change. My latest project was about two guys who organised a music festival in Paris, without any know-how or prior experience in doing so. It turned into a huge mess, but hopefully will make an entertaining film! https://youtu.be/GHMGAuWzIlc

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet locals
To make friends.
To see the best of the places I'm visiting.
To save money
To - eventually - host travellers in a place of my own!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm always being introduced to new artists, and love sharing music with others!
I'm a fan of Pink Floyd, Jack Johnson, Ben Howard, Tom Misch, Jeremy Loops, Tame Impala, Stevie Wonder, Arctic Monkeys...

Movies: I could talk about films for days! Probably best I don't try to get into it on here.

Books: recent favourites include 'The Humans' by Matt Haig and of course 'Into The Wild' by Jon Krakauer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Went white-water rafting down the Zambezi River and swam from Zambia into Zimbabwe.
- Did two weeks of volunteer work in Botswana at a school for 'troubled' youth, staying with people I had met in Cape Town only a couple of weeks before.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I'm good with cameras, so filming, photography, stuff like that - I'm more than happy to teach what I know! Cooking - mainly Italian food, I know a couple of nice pasta dishes and a great lasagne!

Learn:
Anything you have to offer! Surfing is the main one for me, I really want to get in the water. And of course seeing all the local spots!

Share:
Films, music, stories, beers, outdoors...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm definitely not just looking for a place to crash overnight. I'd love to get to know my host, share stories and experiences, etc... As I mentioned, I love cooking, so I'd be happy to cook for/with my hosts. All in all, I'm looking for a social experience, so I'll share everything I have to give!
