About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make a new friend in every state. By the time I'm 30. Better get started...

ABOUT ME

I'm in love with traveling. I have student loans, and can't travel as much as I'd like, but I'm starting to get a system of small getaways down - hey, it's a start!

What would my best friends say? They would say I'm hilarious, thrill-seeking, and USUALLY open to anything new. They'd call me creative, but I wouldn't believe them. They'd say I'm never happy unless everyone's having a good time, and I would agree there. They'd also point out that I love a beer or four, as well as a good scotch.

PHILOSOPHY

Currently trying to see the world as "one", and the interconnectedness of everyone/everything. It's a daunting task. I love finding the similarities in people I thought I'd have nothing in common with. I'm also a sucker for milkshakes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm still fairly new to CS - I love hosting, but please give me a bit of advance notice; odds are I won't be able to host you if you're asking only 5-6 days out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was introduced to CS while I was in Madrid, I met a fellow American who was staying with a Spanish woman there. Long story short, I have friendships with both of them, have kept in touch well with the American(s), and hope to spark some more friendships by getting involved myself!

Interests

Meeting new people, eating new/crazy/delicious food, hiking, rollercoasters, amazing views (though they usually only hold my attention for a few minutes...), tasty adult beverages, puns and other wordplay, horrible jokes, music music music - all sorts, especially anything live, discussing differences of opinion, preferably over a drink and after midnight....I'm sure there's more, I'll update as I think of them!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking Huckleberry point in NY state - we hiked up as the sun was setting and saw the light it cast on all the trees in the part of the Hudson valley we were in, camped at the summit in just our sleeping bags, and woke to watch the sun rise. Truly breathtaking.

Another "wow" moment was the first period of culture shock I've experienced. The first foreign country I've been to was Australia, and even as close to American culture as they are, there are times when you get to stop, step back, and just appreciate that different people live their lives in so many different ways around the world. I plan on continuing to travel, and to continue to note the differences and similarities in people everywhere.

I've since been out of the country one more time; I stayed a week in Madrid, Spain. Again, amazing sights, amazing people, more-than-amazing food...10/10 would recommend.
