ABOUT ME
In just a few words: I'm a architect, and I love all things independent and creative: design, art, photography, dance, music, food, coffee, whatever. And a good laugh
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm interested in meeting people that have intimate, perhaps secret, knowledge of their city. I want to participate in couchsurfing as a means of connecting to people, places, and ideas that I might otherwise miss...I travel slow, and I prefer to spend time living in places, not just seeing them at a glance. I'll be traveling for the next year, but when I return to San Francisco, I hope to be able to host people coming through there as well. I never get tired of meeting new people, and I love playing host....
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am new to couchsurfing, but I have a few friends who are members, and they all say it's the most unique way to travel. I have always stayed with friends or in hostels while traveling, but I keep hearing that couchsurfing is an amazing experience, so I have to give it a try.
Interests
I like getting to know a place for more than a few days, experiencing and participating in the cultural life of a city beyond the standard museums and tourist traps, although when I live somewhere, I frequent museum exhibitions, galleries and openings of various sorts as much as I can...
Interests? I am an architect currently traveling on a research grant to study food markets, so I love everything associated with that. Otherwise, I tend to schedule my excursions around cultural events like music and art festivals (I've been to Burning Man in Nevada, Lollapallooza in Santiago, Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Roskilde in Denmark, the Architecture Biennale in Venice).
I'm always making something, whether it's writing or drawing or building various things, and I tend to get along well with creative people of any sort, whether artists, musicians, chefs/cooks, farmers, people that make their own way ....
The following activities sound great to me:
Eating a meal that you know from the first bite is going to be amazing
A dive bar with a jazz band and a back patio
Wine or beer in a park, with bocce ball, or the viking game
Anything involving sitting by a fire
A day at the beach, with the right break
A week on the slopes, with the right powder
Snowball fights
Hot chocolate
Fireworks
Jumping naked into a frozen pond in Finland after getting drunk in a sauna
I could probably go on forever. You get the idea...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once crashed a wedding party on the Greek island of Paros, wearing nothing but pants. And they were linen capris. And I was soaking wet. It's a long story...I'll tell the rest in person.
Watching Roger Waters perform Dark Side of the Moon...awestruck
Looking out at the ocean, every time
