About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Understand the world I'm living in.

ABOUT ME

I don't like to speak about myself, but uhmm. let's just say I'm very interested in almost everything, like a good conversation about something else than the regular bullshit. Can party hard, but appreciate skipping a party to catch up with a friend even better. And uhmm, Like (hopefully) yourself, I would like to leave this earth a better place...

PHILOSOPHY

I guess I'm agnostic. But I would say non-believing gives you the freedom to fill in your own perceptions and values, which I do believe in quite strongly (I know this sounds contradictory but it's not:P). So my actual personal philosophy.. a few important things: understanding yourself (not easy!), the people around you, embrace new (types of) people and experiences, live life, and care for the opportunities of others to do the same.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Bringing my world to living rooms across the globe:) Yes, I am a little bit ashamed that I only hosted one person so far, but that will improve!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mostly in India, and it has been great, met so many beautiful people, definitely a great way to enrich your travels with true human contact. I was also very happy to return the favor to one of them:)

Interests

too much to write down, I´d rather tell you... (some examples: jazz, Hip-hop, Indie-rock, Soul, Blues, meditation, psychedelics, Yoga, Pilates, religion, philosophy, wonders of nature, animals, from the universe to quantum mechanics, story-telling, comedy, (nearly) all film genres, the little things, cultural differences, random profound insights...) And you would probably raise some new ones anyways, I'm very open to almost everything, but I have to say I have been very occupied with societal problems lately (arms trade, tax avoidance, revolving door etc.), but as I am willing to tackle and analyze them from all angles and perspectives, it's still a pretty broad specific interest;)

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything really, I work(ed ,those days are over,) in a cinema so I see movies everyday and you get a little less picky that way, but yes of course, I like Snatch better than the last transformers... I'm a huge music fan, listen to almost anything as long as it's made from the heart and not just some catchy hook to make profit.. Books (fiction), I'm kind of ashamed of myself on this topic, because I didn't really read much up until now, but I'm trying to change this as fast as possible. Especially because I found that I have quite a talent for writing and am on a 100 pages now for my first novel:D, but it would be kind of weard to be a writer who doesn't read... I did enjoy reading a lot in India, also getting the right feel for the country through their stories... But I'm not only interested in fiction, I've become a dedicated activist(or human being, however you like to call it;) lately, and therefor read quite some non-fiction books to strengthen myself with the weapon of truth (yes I know, problematic term, but you know what I mean, I do like to talk with people with opposing views though, always instructive).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting several schools, with the most inspiring students in the slums of cape town.
Jumping off the Bloukrans bridge (216 meters, highest bungee in the world..)
Getting a glimpse into the lives of many beautiful people in India.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to share my visions on, well, everything, all aspects of life. Whether it's about politics or the latest south park episode. I think the best thing about couchsurfing is that it's easy to meet locals everywhere and this way get a little taste of real life there instead of just being the ''stupid tourist'' takin some photo's of some church, just to picture another one at the next stop... (not that I don't appreciate culture, but buildings aren't the things I'm most interested in, it's rather a bonus, I prefer just human contact, adventures, experience moments, I guess you know what I mean...
