About Me

Hey guys!

I am a down-to-earth, honest and open kind of guy. Really pretty damn silly most of the time too. I find joy in having a laugh and poking fun. I am however also respectful and won't mess you around! Good contact with others is super important to me - it it gives me energy and helps put the little things into perspective.

My love of travel (being elsewhere!!) really began in my mid 20s. After finishing university I decided to move to Norway for some silly reason, and that really was the first time I tasted life away from my comfort zone. Loved it! Things kind of exploded from there. I never feel comfortable being home for too long. I have had the best experiences since then, and have been so fortunate in making amazing friends all over the place. Problem is, now I have too many people to miss. First world problems, huh?

I love a good laugh, unexpected and witty out-of-the-ordinary chats, great food and delicious beer. Music is really important to me. I write and perform a few songs here and there, and I'm always struggling a little with the anxieties of putting my private music/thoughts/feelings out there to strangers! If I'm out and about travelling overseas I love to see live music. It's often what I base a trip/route around!

I love being outdoors and feel that a good balance between the hectic times and the quiet times is so important. I need equal parts alone time and company! Love wandering around aimlessly in foreign places. I love wandering around aimlessly in known local places... I think a good walk and set of headphones can put you anywhere.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I currently don't have a couch to offer. I have company to offer and I am always willing to help and give advice where I can! A little bit can go a long way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed (staying with, and meeting up with people) across Europe and the States. I have hosted people plenty of times through the years at my house, but just kind of randomly and not through the couchsurfing platform! I remain friends with several hosts to this day.

Interests

I have way too many to list. I like to feel purposeful and my hobbies are frequently changing. The more folk I meet, the more I find out I like.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is a tricky one to answer because I love lots of stuff... from giant walls of sound with all sorts of pretty instruments to 90s jangly indie to quiet stripped back singer-songwriter stuff. Something that means stuff to whoever wrote it. I tend to dislike music that’s written for the purpose of showing off only. I love an element of nostalgia.

If I were to list some of the best shows I've seen lately for an idea, I'd say Bright Eyes, Big Thief, Godspeed you black Emperor, Belle and Sebastian, Daniel Romano, Sufjan Stevens, Beach House, Damien Jurado, Mount Eerie etc etc

I like a good thoughtful movie.. and dig foreign subtitled films. I tend to like cute, bleak and odd films like your Wes Anderson type stuff. I am really not that fussed though. I prefer the oddly real-life to action or superhero stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Canadian wilderness = face-off with a bear!

Made and held friendships with wonderful folk across the globe.

I’ve moved to several different countries alone to try mix up life a bit. Now I’m in the USA.

We both probably have a lot of stories to share, right?

Teach, Learn, Share

I can chat with the right person all night. I am so keen to share what I know and equally as open to learning what you may have to share. Utmost respect for anyone who brings you into their house so very keen to share anything I can!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love a good chat and a good laugh and can easily be company, or do my own thing!

I'd love to cook you dinner. I'm mad about spicy food. I can teach you all I know about pizza making. Or sourdough… a bit ADHD about that at the moment.

Excellent hangouts. I'll even mop your floor for a free bed. I can help around the house!

Service your bicycle? Help with some gardening? Check.

I love music and if you have a guitar we can have some singalongs.
