I am a geography teacher living in South London looking to get out and about and meet cool people and share some cool experiences. I have lived with a Chinese family for 5 months to improve my Chinese and also been to the large cities of Beijing and Xi'an.

I have also travelled around Southern Africa, Northern America, Asia, Europe and love a life full of adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couch surfing because it seems a great way to meet locals or people that have lived in areas that can give me a real authentic travelling experience. I have a few friends on here that have told me how good it is and how they have travelled all across the world with it this made me join.

Interests

I like reading, cricket and at present my biggest interest in learning. I have never learnt a different language to my mother tongue and have found living in the country and learning the language a truly rewarding experience. The country has unveiled itself in front of me the more I learn. Every day is a school day here, you never stop learning.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite book is called Shantaram by David Gregory Roberts. I love Jack Kerouac, John Steinbeck, and many others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As mentioned above I lived with a Chinese family as part of an exchange program where I help their little boy improve his English and in return they help me with my Chinese. This was a wonderful experience, they took me a way to Jiuhua Shan, Anhui province where we visited many temples and climbed a few of the peaks. I sat with them when they invited religious dignitaries to dinner. It really opened eyes to a different culture even if I had to stomach, duck tonges, snake, sea cucumber, etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a pretty relaxed and chilled out guy. I am pretty handy in the kitchen so if they are busy I am more than happy to pop a meal on the table or if its just a case of a few yarns over a few beers or bottle of wine I would only be to happy to share.
