About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"make a living, not a killing" "never let them get you down"

ABOUT ME

I am a generally happy, enthusiastic, silly person always up for a good conversation and a good laugh.

PHILOSOPHY

I lost a good friend and mentor, at the prime of her life, very suddenly. She accomplished a lot in a short time and it made me reflect that tomorrow is not guaranteed and we only have this life so go out and make connections before your time is up.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to explore the world, specifically doing some genealogy, so traveling to places that my family came from. I am not typically looking for places to stay ( although if that happens great!) I am mostly looking to connect to people who live in the cities I want to visit and get advice, make some connections.

Interests

I'm curious about other cultures, I want to travel more, i love reading, theater is my passion ( i direct and act), i love a good movie. I love being outdoors, and find that I haven't had time/opportunity to be in nature a lot of late so I would like to actively change that.

Music, Movies, and Books

too many to list- I love the game of thrones books and the show, I love the stories of Stephen King, Preston/Childs, the books that deeply impacted me early on were To Kill A Mockingbird, Winesburg OH, and 1984. To be fair, my grandmother was a librarian so all sorts of books have been placed in my lap to read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

sometimes just seeing the sun through the trees on a beautiful is the most amazing thing!! I think there is great beauty in the basic… but i guess i would say i thought it was amazing when my family traveled to Mayan Ruins together in Mexico. My father was physically disabled, but we managed to get him into the site. He had been fascinated by ancient cultures of all kinds for years and to be with him finally exploring places he had only read about was deeply important to me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe in the power of touch. In my culture, we have personal space issues that isolate us physically in a pretty detrimental way. I think my culture somehow perceives touch as a pervertedly motivated act. I have worked with injured people and autistic children and have been able to use the connection of therapeutic touch to help them on their healing processes. Its a beautiful thing and I like to share that with others. I would love to be an instructor and teach others how to use touch to help and to heal.

What I Can Share with Hosts

mostly looking for conversation about the local culture, advice on places to check out and areas best to avoid if any.

Countries I’ve Visited

Antigua and Barbuda, Austria, Barbados, Canada, Cayman Islands, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, United Kingdom
