I'm an easy-going guy, (almost) always in a good mood and eager to get to know new people/places/food/... :)

Currently I'm getting my PhD where I try my best to apply machine learning (I know, buzz word of the year) into production processes. In the little free time I have left, I prefer relaxing activities, such as cooking, watching a movie or going out for a beer. I also try to keep up with spots more or less regularly, mainly bouldering, yoga or the gym.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I'm in a city, I want to experience it like a local. Of course sight seeing is a part of that, but it shouldn't be the only thing you do. Also, as a tourist you often miss the secrets of a city only locals know about. And its always great to meet new faces and make new friends all over the place. Couchsurfing is the closest way of living in a city, without actually moving there,

Interests

While I enjoy the occasional team sport (volleyball), I'm mainly into solo sports (bouldering, snowboarding, surfing, ...) which allow me to relax and meditate. Not that I don't like getting challenged, however most of the time I need sports as a balance to work. Same with cooking as a way to unwind after a long day.

Programming, machine learning, tech and everything around it...if I wouldn't love it, I would need to look for another job.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are many great movies out there. My all-time-favorites are: K-PAX, Fight Club, Mr. Brooks, Lucky # Slevin, American History X and so many more!

I pretty much listen to anything. Hip hop, Electro, Jazz, Reaggae,... you name it. There are good and bad artists in any genre. If it sounds good, I'll listen to it! Never got into Country though, even though I lived a year in Texas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming in the ocean in Florida on Christmas was really cool!
Walking around Amsterdam until my legs got cramps. Impossible to get bored in such a beautiful city!
Has been a long time, but the nightsky in Portugal was amazing!
