ABOUT ME

I describe myself as Texan in my openness to meet new people; British in humour; Japanese in my sensitivity to others; Swiss in timeliness and attention to detail; Polish in my work ethic and determination to get things done; and pure Jim Henson in my childish curiosity towards life.

I'm an artist specialising in classical art techniques for video game art—making games and also teaching. I particularly enjoy travelling to visit museums or to take part in outdoor sports activities, such as snowboarding, wave surfing, hiking and swimming. I love teaching, and always have time for people wanting to learn about art.

I'm very calm and settled in myself. I love meeting new people, experiencing cities from a local's perspective, and enjoy finding myself in surprising and unusual situations. A kid for life—I always try to find the positive, quirky and amusing side of every situation. Forever curious, open to try everything and experience every aspect of what life has to offer.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a spare sofa-bed, although it's only available when my 4-year-old son is not staying with me. I only accept guests who make an effort to introduce themselves and share similar interests.

As a surfer I always take the time to search for hosts using keywords, such as 'painting, drawing, dancing,' etc. From experience this has resulted in finding an instant connection with my hosts.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couchsurfing experience was in March 2014 in Austin TX, where I stayed with three hosts. The experience was amazing, making new friends that made me feel at home from the very first moment we met. I've since stayed with hosts in Japan.

More a list of my most memorable travel memories: eating at '41 Grados' in Barcelona; coming face-to-face with one of the mythical panther-sized black cats in the Blue Mountains, Australia; losing a day of my life crossing the international date line on my way to Fiji; witnessing the NASA space shuttle on its last flight across San Francisco Bay; visiting the Atlanta Aquarium and my first glimpse of the whale shark; swimming in the Caumasee near Laax, Switzerland; first snowboard run through real deep powder under blue skies in Mayrhofen, Austria; Japan (everything!); eating Yakiniku; seeing a shark swim out from a river into the sea during a surf contest; diving off a yacht into deep water off the coast of Cyprus; drawing at the Louvre and d'Orsay in Paris; pistachio ice cream in Lucca, Italy; watching distant lighting at night over the ocean while flying to Thailand; walking through Old Delhi at night with friends.
