About Me

Fully vaccinated.

Hello. Been a while since I was properly Couch Surfing. But I'm best described as a creative freelancer working in comedy and film. I run two film festivals (www.shortcom.org si-fan.org), a publicist for comedians working at the Edinburgh Fringe. I am all kinds of neurodivergent. ADHD, dyslexic and something new that I've recently discovered about myself; language processing disorder. So every language is my second language.

I think most people would describe me as friendly, jovial and (hopefully) knowledgable. Always keen to learn new ways of thinking and perspectives. I'm vegetarian but not preachy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to host years ago when I lived in Edinburgh. Was an excellent way to meet new people and learn about new cultures.

But in this current moment. I am travelling around Europe for two months via interrail and making up for lost time. So I am looking to meet some people to hopefully host and be a friendly guide in unknown parts.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted some lovely people and some people who took too many liberties. So mixed but overall on the positive side.

Interests

Quite lucky that I work in the industries that I am passionate about, film and comedy. But do love visiting places I've never been before. Trying to get myself back into being fit. Love a good hill walk, discovering cool cafes, eateries and stumbling across hidden gems.

Music, Movies, and Books

Way too many favourite films and bands.

Everything Everywhere All At Once, Land of Mine, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, Akira, Underground, Special, The Matrix, Southland Tales, Donnie Darko, Elite squad, Motorcycle Diaries, Dead Man's shoes, Life Of Brian, The Fall, Sympathy For Mr Vengence, Tell No One, Battle Royale, J.S.A. City of God, Bill and Ted, Chumscrubber, Bubba Ho-Tep, Sideways, Napoleon Dynamite, Restless Natives. Basically I like a lot and usually the bizarre. However I hate pretty much any film thats hell bent on being miserable for 90 minutes or so.

Musicially I'm very eclectic. I'm into my fast hard rock music but I like a lot of old stuff. My favourite band is REM, and I have no shame in admitting it. Others, Crowded House, radio head, Queen, Tom Petty, Poison The Well, Cat stevens, Thrice, Alkaline Trio, Thrice, Far, Jonah Matranga, Hell is for Heroes, Hopesfall, At the Drive In, Sparta, Madness, Fugazi, Boysetsfire, Broken Social Scene, The Arcade Fire, 65 days of Static, Hundred reasons, Leatherface. Honestly, I could go on. Much more into post-rock these days.

Big fan of Murakami, Gaiman and Coupland.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hard to say. Giving all the various disabilities I have. It's pretty amazing that I've got as far as I have.
