About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Preparing our round the world trip, departure date in May 2013!

ABOUT ME

Joël or "Jo" :
I am 27 years old, work in a shop and play rugby. Rugby is my passion, I love team efforts. I have been playing rugby since I am a little boy. I met Christelle two years ago now and we quickly understood we were meant for each other. Even if we are two completely different people. She loves travelling and made me discover what it is. Finally, she made me love it too! I am an optimistic person, always smiling and happy. I am also a hard worker and I never hesistate to help you whatever you are doing. I like cooking and discovering new countries. I am very curious and can interest myself in many different subjects. I also have strong family values. I don't speak very good english, but I hope I will improve it thanks to your help (even if it is hard for me, please be tolerant ;-))

Christelle or "Chris" :
I am a 30 year old girl, curious and open minded person. I love dancing, speaking foreign languages, and traveling. I work in international trade as a purchaser, my love for the english language brought me to this position. But I would prefer to concentrate my career in sustainable development or in environement. I would like to participate in local associations as a volunteer (with animals for example). I don't know where this passion for traveling comes from (my parents don't travel!), but I know I can't live anymore without planning a trip, actually living one or watching photos of the last one! I love discovering so much, that sometimes I am exhausted of my day walking everywhere! Don't think I am a cold person, after my day outside, I am just really tired! And you'll see, the next morning, I'll back on my feet for the next advanture to come!

We :
We met while dancing :-) We are now traveling together after having lived seperate life experience. We are planning to make a round the world trip, discovering China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Vanuatu, the USA, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, and Brasil. We have already travelled together and discovered Israel, Scotland, Italy and some parts of France. While traveling, we are usually all the time out during the day, so don't worry, we can eat outside, or we can eat with you, to your place or together outside. We can also cook you some meals ;-) We can spend some times with you if you want to, especially during the day if you are free, for example during week-ends. We can also be totaly independant if you prefer. We personnaly like to share some good chats, visits and/or meals with our hosts (or guests) + having our own time together. We are not "night people" (we go to bed early and wake up early...but not too early!), but sometimes going out with you at night, having a drink or going dancing can be very nice too ;-) Anyway, we will adapt to your way of living, to the rules of your home (please tell us if there are some)and are impatient to share our travel with you.

PHILOSOPHY

We are both interested in environement issues. We believe that we all need to limit our impact on the Planet before it is too late (if it isn't already too late...) We believe that each little action multipled by many will lead to a great thing! And we want to participate in this.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By hosting and surfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Jo : We have hosted some people and we have also surfed some couches, in Israel and Scotland. These were good experiences because we touched a little bit more the cultural aspects of the countries. We prepared a french dinner to our host in israël and mixed it with some local hummus and bread, that was yummy!

Chris : My best experience remains the first one, in India, because I realized that world was a small place to live in, and even if we are far from other people, even if we live different lives, we can have the same feelings inside of us...My host is now a friend, we keep in touch. Chriselle, I still hope we will make it happen one day!

Interests

Traveling, discovering, eating, doing sports, dance and rugby.

Here are the already visited countries + countries we're about to visit during our round the world trip...still South and central America to visit, we hope soon when we're back!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies : All! (except science fiction films for Chris)
Books : We don't read much books except some travel books. Anyway, Chris loves particulary two books : Mutant Message Down Under and Let my people go surfing.
Music : any kind of music which is "positive" and on which you can dance (pop, rock, ...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

...Amazing things all around the world...among others : Taj Mahal, Dead See, Uluru, Sistine Chapel, animals in their natural environement in Australia, etc...

And amazing people too, especially in India where you can find some people who have no idea who you are but still want to help you in any way they can....

Teach, Learn, Share

We can teach french, english (Chris), guitare (Jo), french culture, french food (both!)
We can learn anything you want to teach to us, for example some words of your language, some cooking receipes, or some good places that you know. Jo will also love to learn from you if you are a good guitare player as he is a beginner.
We can share all what is possible during the time spent together!

And the best would be to make "paralel experience": if we have hosted you in france, why shouldn't we arrange a visit in your country? Or why don't you come to us if you have hosted us in your country?!
