About Me

CURRENT MISSION

(Chris)When it comes to saying so long and thanks for all the fish, I want to have sampled the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster of life.

ABOUT ME

We're a married couple, Since 2004 and are currently waiting to travel with our kids to far flung places.... When we get the chance/money/time off. Easy going and chilled, we take everything in our stride. Jude likes to talk, not all the time but most of it, I like to listen and tell the odd story. Our travels had been mostly with groups, friends and family but we have hit the USA, have liked the idea of couchsurfing, telling our stories, showing our photos and inspiring someone else to give up life as they know it and go see a part of the world.

PHILOSOPHY

(Chris)
My get up and go got up and went, I need to find it again. Too long in the rat race has dumbed my senses and it's time to find them again. Get up, get out and have a go... but leave time for relaxing.

(Jude's) Taken from my own Mother's philosophy 'Go For It'. I'd rather regret things I have done than regretted not doing them. Sounds a little fickle, but I have learnt more from mistakes than from not even trying.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have surfed couches now in Seattle, Dallas, Kentucky and Chicago (and have enjoyed the people we have met and every moment so far), we have also met someone for a 'coffee' in Vietnam. We didn't know this sort of thing existed and I Love the idea of meeting someone everywhere we go.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Originally (back in '98) it was 2 weeks in Michigan after attending Camp America. I(Chris) was shocked the guys let me stay that long. Now we have surfed only at people's homes but with being away from our own home, we haven't had the opportunity. Our home may not be really big but once we are home we should be ok to host, if not we'll be meeting up, enjoying a coffee or a pint and having a chat with people from all over the world is just ideal. It's the little things that make life interesting, hearing someone's story expands your own epxeriences and give you ideas for the next.

Interests

At the minute it's planning our travels, we've been travelling for 10 months, so many countries, so little time and so much more too see. Enjoying life, watching the world go by and maybe hitch a ride once in a while.

From watching dancing in china, animals in Africa, cityscapes, countryside, mountains, rivers, great walls, small hostels and anything else going.

Music, Movies, and Books

Shawshank Redemption and The Usual Suspects, mostly main stream but anything goes.

Any Music depends on the mood, A catchy tune, a good beat from Nirvana to Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Hitch Hikers guide to the Galaxy, all time favourite. I'm not a big reader.

(Jude) Anne of Green Gables, Pride & Prejudice, Harry Potter, some chick flicks etc... I also LOVE knitting and looking at wool shops (yarn stores for some people!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sitting on top of Mount Sinai watching the sunrise, Sitting in Capetown watching the Sunset. It was the people I was with that made it special, not just the location.
In the past six months, too many to mention. Giving Birthday cake to three kids in Bolivia outside a restaurant, their faces made it amazing.

(Jude) Stood at one end of Easter Island and just marvelled at the vastness of the ocean.

Teach, Learn, Share

(Chris) I teach basic video skills and simple editing. You want to make a one minute movie, I can help.

I'd Love to learn wood craft from turning to carving. Also maisonary skills.... and maybe the Piano. And to sail... a proper big sailing boat. To Chop an onion fast. To Juggle..... to Juggle fire. To learn the twirly things with the weights on the end. I want to experience anything anyone has to offer in return for whatever I can.

(Jude) I can knit, love planting things in my garden (and not really looking after them 100%) and would love to have a dog, so practice at looking after one would be great.
