About Me

Hey!

I'm Chris. Just a guy living in Edinburgh, Scotland at the moment now that I've completed my studies while I ponder my next move! I've been travelling intermittently for the 1-2 years and now I'm working / looking to apply to study a masters elsewhere or even continue travelling. Right now I'm torn between studying in Deutschland and España, or maybe moving to Oz!

I'm a pretty chilled out, easy-going person. I love meeting new people, experiencing new things and generally attempting to make the most out of life. I’m extremely social and could probably be considers to be a bit of an extrovert at times. Honestly I think what makes me happiest though is making new friendships and communicating with people from a myriad of different backgrounds/cultures - which is probably true for most people using this haha. Well that, and saving a little money while travelling of course.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Cultural Exchange, right? I've always loved meeting new people and learning new things; couch surfing is pretty perfect for learning about new cultures and customs whilst meeting new people from around the world.

I have never couch surfed before - neither hosted or been hosted - but it would be pretty great to meet interesting, fun, adventurous souls from across the globe and possibly help introduce them to a city/country I love!

Currently I live in the centre of Edinburgh, only minutes from the castle and pretty much all major hotspots for exploring and experiencing the capital.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have an pretty addictive personality, so there are far too many things to mention and cover in this section.

Music: I play guitar and some double bass too. So if you play music, great!
Currently I am listening to a lot of funk, soul , hip-hop, ska, swing and recently a tonne of rap too. Honestly though I enjoy most genres if the music is good!

Film/TV:
HARRY POTTER - of course.
Blockbusters/Documentaries/Dramas/Comedy or whatever I find gripping and interesting at any particular moment in time. Right now I'm actually rewatching Friends for the first time in yeaaars!

Books:
TOLKIEN - I was ranked 5th in the world for Tolkien/LOTR trivia from Aug-Nov 2016 (I got real good at procrastinating).
Orwell, Vonnegut, Kafka, Stephen King, Joyce, Murakami, Melville, R.R. Martin, Steinbeck .... etc etc etc.
I'm currently reading as many literary "classics" as I can. If you can share any recommendations please do!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2016 I travelled to Mexico on my own and spent some time traveling the country visiting various family members, living for a period Mexico City before traveling south east along the coast for several weeks. I’ve since realised I really want to return to Mexico for much longer, having learned Spanish properly and then travel throughout South America.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can attempt to teach guitar or bass to anyone interested!

Besides this, I have always loved to help people in learning English - and if anyone can help me in learning Spanish or German that's a definite bonus too.

Ceilidh dancing! Are you searching for a traditional Scottish experience? Do you mind getting sweaty and (most likely) swept off your feet more times than you can count? Let's go to a ceilidh!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook for you! Or hopefully we can teach each other various languages where possible! I'm told I am also a good story-teller...

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, England, France, Germany, Guatemala, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Norway, Portugal, Spain, United States, Wales
