Overview
About Me
I'm a 27 year-old scientist/engineer who plays (ice) hockey and loves puns. I have the heart of a lion.... and a lifetime ban from the zoo :P
I'm easy-going with a good sense of humour and I'm always looking to meet new people and go on adventures. In light of this I'm taking my first ever solo overseas trip, and couchsurfing seems like an amazing way to have those adventures away from home!
I'm always up for a night out with a few ales, but equally love an afternoon or evening to myself with a book or a movie / TV show marathon.
I'm looking to explore and experience new things in new places with new people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My brother couchsurfed his way through many overseas trips and made some lifelong friends. Now it's my turn! I'd love to meet new friends and share conversations, laughter, meals and experiences. And to make some memories I'll never forget!
Interests
Hockey is my passion, and once I unearthed it here in Australia, I immediately became hooked. I'm a Calgary Flames fanatic and can't wait to see the boys live in Calgary. I also skate regularly and play hockey myself here.
As an engineer I love tinkering with things, and constantly have a few electronics projects sitting on my desk, half finished. I'm always seeing things and thinking "I could build that!" Sometimes I can, and sometimes... well... :)
I am looking to get outdoors more. Too infrequently do I go on a hike or a walk, and it's something I'd love to do more while travelling. I've started running in the past few months to explore my city, but the world is a beautiful place and there's always so much more to see! I do, however, love to star gaze, and do this every chance I get.
Other interests include: gym + good tunes, pizza, science, beer, gaming, and laughing until my sides hurt and my eyes water.

Music, Movies, and Books
Currently (slowly) working my way through some Isaac Asimov novels, and I love sci-fi and fantasy.
Robin Hood: Men in Tights may be my favourite movie of all time, or The Matrix. And the new Star Wars was pretty ace!
I'm pretty into my metal/hard rock music these days, but I also love jazz and classical. I played the cello for six years and had a leading role in an amateur musical production of Man of La Mancha, so I cover a lot of bases with musical taste!
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: Can teach you about the physics of the universe, or how that pesky quantum mechanics works, or science in general. And I can teach you the proper way to say 'Australia' (" 'Straya! ").
Learn: I am keen to learn anything and everything. I would study new things my whole life if I could!
Share: Conversation, ideas, a coffee/a beer, and fun times.
