About Me
ABOUT ME
For better or worse, I've spent a lot of my life in higher education, and I'm currently doing a PhD in sociology, and conducting research on psychological well-being and mental health.
Research takes up a lot of my time, but I love most of my work, so it's not burdensome. In fact, it's much more fulfilling than the corporate work I used to do.
I'm an amateur pianist too, and I enjoy playing and listening to Chopin and Beethoven.

PHILOSOPHY
I try not to take myself too seriously. I believe that the social world runs on reciprocity, and most people are conscious of this fact. I think a certain degree of detachment in the Buddhist sense is healthy. And I believe that people around the world have more in common than they might realize.
HOSTING
I have a long-term roommate at the moment, so unfortunately can't host anyone. But I'm happy to hang out and help if you want information about what to see and do in the Atlanta area.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I lived in three countries when I was growing up, and realized that most people around the world have a lot in common. So I find it interesting to meet locals wherever I travel, and host travelered when I'm able.
At the moment, I can't host anyone, but I can give you a walking tour of parts of Atlanta, and help you navigate the Atlanta beer scene.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I listen to a lot of classical music from the 18th and 19th centuries. I especially like chamber music and symphonic music, although I have nothing against song cycles. When it comes to popular music, I enjoy Gaslight Anthem, Stars, She and Him, and Aimee Mann, among others. I generally go for good lyrics.
Movies and Books: too many to mention really
