ABOUT ME

Friends describe me as a realy kind and positiv person. I LOve playing the bassguitar or percussion in a bigband in which we play cuban music as well as european bigband music. Furthermore, I made my final secondary-school examinations with focus on art and german so I'm quite creative, love to paint, draw and art in general and especially urban arts.
This summer I've walked through an internship in a psychiatry and really liked the work there especially the work with other humans so that I finnaly would like to study psychology.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

the most amazing thing i've ever done was my participation in the "Okan-Tomi" project which is a socio-cultural project in Havanna, Cuba.Okan-Tomi is a group of dance instructors which work with street chilrden, give them the oportunity to become dance instructors as well and thus the chance not to be shoe shiners or criminals. I played in the band which was founded in spring 2009 and served Okan-Tomi as a musical accompaniment. For example in autumn 2009 as we invitet 12 members of Okan-Tomi to come to germany and play a lot of concerts with us and give some amazing workshops about dancing and drumming. the problem was the bad financial situation in cuba so that we had to pay the hole trip and to be able to do this we have collected donations and sponsors. Moreoveer, our guests slept by the familys of the band members to save money. After a half year, in spring 2010, we had enough money to accept an invitation to visit Okan-Tomi in Cuba. there we met the mayor of havanna, played concerts and saw some wonderfull places. to save money we slept by the families of our friends of Okan-Tomi, on one hand this was quite upsetting because of the horrible living conditions in Cuba but on the other hand it was one of the greatest experience I've ever made. Today we've planed the next visit and collected enough money so that Okan-Tomi will come to germany this autumn. sadly I'll be in Canada this time but the hole project was a giant treasure of new experience, new friends and new music.
by the way, "Okan-Tomi" means something like: "with our hearts".
