ABOUT ME

- I left some old updates to see how things were during all these years -

Update April, 2015:
Well, you grow up, after years of asking questions there are now years that give answers. After visiting the world, observing, learning, I started creating. I am founding two companies, one of them a social business in order to further strengthen society and it cohesion.
I am settled in Mainz/Frankfurt and I am going on a few shorter trips each year. This year I plan on visiting the US, Italy, Austria, Georgia, Azerbaidjan, Sweden and Greece. I feel lucky to have those opportunities and knowing a lot of people by know. Yet I would absolutely love to encounter new people on my way and see what's driving them and how they live their lives. Can't wait to meet them! Let's see what 2015 will bring us. I am having a good feeling.

Update 2012:
I love life. That's basically it. No year without a new idea, without a new journey, without new challenges, without new things I want to learn.
This year, in 2012, I will be studying abroad in Brazil to finally become conversational in Portuguese and get to know an exciting new culture. The world is my home and I think I appreciate every single acquaintance, especially since couchsurfing tought me so.

In 2010 I wrote the following during my world trip. I remember the moment pretty well which is why I like to retain it here:

"Well, I'm sitting here in an internet café somewhere in Thailand, have just missed my ferry to an island and I was thinking this is probably a good time to update my profile.

To put it in a nutshell: after school I did a traineeship at a German investmentbank, was offered a couple of scholarships for uni and.. decided that there is more going on around the globe I probably cannot even think of and I want to dive into these different worlds, lifes, cultures or however you wanna call it. So I cancelled it all.

It's been a year now since I set off from home. I didn't know that it'll be that long and that I will get on a path that leads me through Thailand. I am not a travel addict, though, and I won't travel for the rest of my life. I love doing what I'm doing right now and it has been more or less the greatest time in my life. I have a couple of months left before I return to my home country, start a new life there. I got some ideas traveling brought me onto, believe me. Looking forward to doing this.

Some basic facts about me.. I like:
- Sports (Fitness, Running, Outdoor, Surfing, Snowboarding)
- Economics and Politics
- Travelling
- Conversation about life
- Partying :-)
- Trying out new things

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I heard about cs from a friend 7 years ago, thought it's a nice idea. Hosted one person in Germany in 2 years, wasn't living where people seem to like to go. After this minor experience I swapped sides and went travelling for 15 months. That is when I made one of the most wonderful experiences in my life: the hospitality and minds of other couchsurfers. After my travels I started studying in Germany and host somebody every few months. Not a lot of people who ask me unfortunately but enough to stay with the spirit of couchsurfing. Now that I am a bit more settled in Germany I hope to host more people whilst being hosted on a few short trips.

Or in other words:
Couchsurfing? Love it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Ha.. so many pictures running through my mind whenever I am asked about my experiences. It's different, intense, beautiful. Gave me the feeling I am at home anywhere around the world. Lucky that we are living in a world where this is achievable. Because it is priceless.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Doing a handstand in Frankfurt in an elevator of an investmentbank from the 43rd floor to the 1st - in a suit.
Roadtripping through Eastern Europe without knowing where to go the next day.
Watching a sunrise in Indonesia from the top of a vulcano.
A wild night in different parts of Rio de Janeiro ending with falling asleep at Copacabana beach as the sun rises and with my couchsurfing friends next to me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would never claim to teach somebody (except for my little sister), but I like to share my thoughts and maybe you can get something out of it. One would be:

Do things differently. Don't take things as given just because it always used to be like this. Ask everytime if there might be another way, and if you're not sure - try it out.
