Overview
About Me
I am a twin - born just two minutes after my sister. I grew up with her and my younger brother. There are no people in my life more important to me than them, my parents and my best friend, who I have known since before I knew I was a human (as she likes to put it).
I am an active person. I much prefer books or physical activities to screens. I love animals and being in the natural world, so naturally am a bit of a greenie.
I finished all my schooling in Darwin, Australia before moving to Adelaide for University where I studied Aerospace Engineering. Darwin is tropical so when I moved to Adelaide I used to think it was FREEZING when it was actually just 20 degrees Celsius! I am a little more worldy now haha.
When I finished uni, I got a job as an Aero Engineer in Adelaide but felt suffocated by the office lifestyle so I started travelling with my savings instead. Right now I am a live-in carer in the heart of London stocking my bank account up for more travels soon.
I am a positive person. I have always been independent. I like having a lot of time to myself. I used to be VERY shy but I am much more socially comfortable now. I find everybody interesting in their own way. Give me some time to feel comfortable around you and my true colours will find their way through.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet amazing, interesting people.
To learn about all the places other couch surfers are from, or have lived in and visited.
To feel welcomed and in good company when I am travelling alone and vice versa when I am home.
It's harder to connect with people in a real way than it used to be but I think couch surfing is a great way to make the world a more personal place.
Interests
I have always loved adventuring on a bicycle. I grew up spending my weekends exploring the bush land surrounding my home in the outskirts of Darwin on my cheapo mountain bike. When I lived in Adelaide I loved spending a day with friends on our road bikes in the amazing Adelaide Hills. I try to cycle in most places I visit now.
I was once dedicated to dance. I love the feeling of getting into my body and expressing myself without having to speak to somebody. I was too shy to ever enjoy the performance aspect of dancing though.
Now I love yoga. It is a way to get into my body without having to consider an audience or a performance aspect. It is such a great way to build physical and mental strength. When I think I understand a pose, something can shift in my thinking or my physical abilities and I can connect even more with that pose. I am slowly learning more about inversions (headstands and handstands). I think spending time upside down is highly underrated!
I also recently fell in love with freediving, which compliments the yoga very well. I plan on doing plenty of diving in my travels from now on.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like a lot of different music. The type of music I am most likely to buy is bluesy but if a song is catchy I will probably sing along to it.
I enjoy adventure movies, war movies, sports movies. I also really enjoy a good, gritty drama. Australian dramas are my favourite.
I love books. For me, a great book is about the story moreso than the words. The book that most moved me when I read it was 'The God of Small Things'. Before that, I liked crime/adventure stories. Now I search for books that will reshape my thinking or inspire an action in me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent 8 days kayaking and camping around Lake Argyle just outside of Kununurra in Western Australia. Such a stunning adventure.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach... I have often thought of teaching different things. Maybe yoga or high school science in the future. Maybe both?
Learn... I think as long as you continue to reach beyond your current position in life you will continue to learn. A great fear of mine is to become static.
Share... The more that people share with each other, the easier it is for different people to understand each other. I think the people that experience the most sharing in their lives are the often the most accepting.
