About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where yadda yadda yadda..... POGO STICKS ON ROCKET SHIPS!
ABOUT ME
I'm a musician and majored in composition in university. I enjoy talking about music and all the the things you're not supposed to talk about with people you've just met (Politics and religion).
I'm a vegetarian but I relax to accommodate sea food when I travel.
I enjoy working with kids and I'm working towards becoming a high school music teacher.
PHILOSOPHY
I tend to speak less, listen more, and be willing to say "I don't know".
We don't have to have all the answers for everything and I think that sometimes our readiness to belt out the answers in a zealous baritone betrays a better and more realistic truth that only answers us in reflection, careful thought, and discussion as opposed to debate.
That's not to say that debate can't be a useful exercise but usually when someone is debating, they're interested in some kind of intellectual contest where there is a winner who emerges. Discussion does away with this as there is no winner in a discussion, only a cooperative search for truth and hopefully, giggles.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I had a very positive experience couch surfing across Europe so I've decided to open up my couch in Vancouver to pay back the karma.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My girlfriend and I traveled across Europe and used Couchsurfing the whole way. I was astounded (And a little humbled) by people's generosity.
I also had a flatmate who hosted a couple from Australia (He informed me they would be arriving within a couple of days of me moving in) and it was a great experience.
Interests
Music-wise, I can find interest in just about anything from John Zorn, to the symphony, jazz.
I also looove to cook and cycle. Not usually at the same time.
I've also recently gotten into swing dancing.
I can ride a unicycle, although I'm off it until I can justify buying one that's a better fit for me size-wise(I'm rather tall). Which reminds me....
I enjoy being tall. Short, not so much.
Board games are a great way to spend a rainy evening (Settlers Of Catan!). I tend to favor elegant versus over-complicated but I can also have fun deciphering something with rules that are as impractical as office chair roller skates.
