ABOUT ME

I travel. I travel everywhere.... I teach English and history. I am fun loving, but not a smoker and not a big drinker either. I am a roaming spirit but one who always remembers his friends and where he has been. I tend to laugh a lot.
I swam with over 300 dolphins off the South Island of New Zealand.
I hitched aroudn the South Island of New Zealand and met a character named Barefoot Barry who had me and a fellow hitchhiker stay at his place!
I hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro to the top.
I have taught over 2,000 kids.
I have been IN Carnival in Rio as a giant grasshopper!
I have been to Everest Base Camp.
I have outsmarted Russian border officials who wanted to take all of my money!
I have ridden the Iron Ore Train.
I have survived Malaria.
I have hiked to the top of Mt. Olympus.
I have loved almost every minute of traveling ... and I have put in many miles.
I've been in a Chinese television commercial for furniture!
I've been an extra in the Bollywood film SHEEN about Kashmir.
I have been in Stonehenge for summer solstice.
I was in Sydney in 2009 for New Year's, Australia Day & Mardi Gras.
I've climbed Australia's highest peak.
I've been to Timbuktu and back--LITERALLY!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have slept on so many couches and in so many guest rooms it is unreal.

I enjoyed meeting other couchsurfers at the first Western Mass meeting.

Surfed officially with Cath in Paris...
two North Americans in Paris! well more with Simon as well!
I traveled with Janosch around Southern England.
Fran & I have been all over Southern Germany & Southern England...and in wow...how many countries in one day? 6, I think! Talk about a road trip!
And Raisa brought me all around Bogota!
And Kamala had the nicest couch in Thredbo and afterwards we went on a roadtrip to Sydney...she makes amazing salads!!

I was amazed and touched by the open mindedness and hospitality of the people of Syria...When I was stranded in the desert, a bus load of European elderly tourists didn't help--but a group of young teens and their French teacher from a little village did...
It was beautiful...really beautiful.
