My studies are taking me to various parts of the world for conferences etc. but rather than just working in these areas I want to take time to experience and explore the local people, culture and wildlife. Something that is difficult to achieve on a student's limited budget.

Music: I listen to a wide variety of Rock, Alternative and Classical music. Some of my favorite artists include Mumford and Sons and Nightwish.

Movies: Hot Fuzz, What we do in the Shadows, Sword of a Stranger . . .

Books: I love all the Terry Pratchette novels but at the moment Robin Hobb is my favorite author. I am also a big fan of the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter universe.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I have spent two years on the sub-antarctic Marion Island as a researcher working on Elephant and fur seals as well as various albatross and petrel species. This involved living with a multi-cultural team of 21 people for the full period of each expedition without seeing another soul that was not part of the team. The work also involved working in dangerous weather conditions, on dangerous terrain and with large dangerous mammals.
