I neither did any payment to CS nor did i ever intended to do so. It feels more like an dishonor to accidentally have this damn verification button than it gives anyone more safety.
You can get a good overview of a person while carefully reading his/her profile and most important the references. Check the profiles of some references and if you are still uncertain, contact one of them (helped me already one time). And in the end, trust your guts.
Your guts aint wrong, payment verification is wrong.
Verification is only a moneymaking tool, it neither will nor can raise surfers security.

Since it got more and more... couchsurfing is not about "just crashing a couch". I will not answer any copy-paste message. My low response rate is due to that issue... so please don't hesitate to write me :)
And honestly... if you feel like "you will not even notice me" might enhance your chance of getting hosted, this might be the wrong site for you.
Please be aware, that this site is supposed to be a site of mutual friendship of giving.
Be gentle, be considerate, be thoughtful. We are not a free hostel.
If you wanna stay for free, go camping. If you wanna crash a couch, go for a hostel.
If you seek contacts, experiences, stories and possible friendships, go CS.

And please hit the accept-button, otherwise i will think you are not sure if you commit or if you stay somewhere else.

Ah ... as a long distance biker myself (not too active recently though), long distance bikers may just crash my couch ;)
Just write your rough travel plans in your request. You can shower, sleep warm and, if you need, do laundary at my house.

Unfortunatly i havent had too many options yet to surf other peoples couches, but within my travels many people opened their doors for me, somehow just like couchsurfing. The experiences made were the most precious, which led me to trying to give other travellers a similar experience when being in my town.
