When I travel I think couchsurfing is the best way to learn something about the country. Next to the landscapes and the cities it is the people who define the characteristics of a country.

I started to learn driving with the motorbike in Thailand. When I rent my motorbike they just wanted to know if I go by motorbike in germany. I sad "Yes" but I never did it before. But then I learned it :)
