Overview
About Me
Hi,
My name is Christian Welling (guy on the left - photo from a shooting course I took in college). I recently left my software job and am now traveling Europe!
My background is in software product in the artificial intelligence and medical instrumentation space. However, I much prefer to discuss my favorite wine varietal or a recipe I am experimenting with.
I've always loved traveling and explored the world when possible. When I graduated from university, I decided I needed to see more of the world before I started working full time. This propelled me on a journey which has led me to visit numerous countries in the past few years (even after I started working!) including Spain, Portugal, France, England, Greece, Denmark, Korea, Japan, and Mexico.
For me traveling is more than seeing a new place. It is immersing yourself in a new culture, going outside of your comfort zone, and creating bonds with amazing people from all over.
Aside from Europe and Asia, I have traveled over the United States quite extensively. I am also an Eagle Scout. I look forward to meeting you and sharing an amazing experience!

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a large variety of music, but if I had to pick some genres: Dance Pop, Hip Hop, Reggaeton, and House.
Movies...lets see: Anything by Guillermo del Toro, Quentin Tarantino, or Christopher Nolan; Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Gone Girl, Spirited Away,... there are lots. Ask me in person.
TV shows: lots, but i really like, Top Gear (former)/Grand Tour (now), True Detective, Game of Thrones, West World...again, lots.
Books: Anything by Dan Brown, The Kind Worth Killing, Ready Player One, The Snowman. I'm trying to read more, promise.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Never really like this question...but I'm pretty proud of finishing my masters degree a semester early.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am an avid learner. My background is in design (mechanical engineering) as well as autonomous vehicle development (software mainly), but I know lots of things. I'm up to date in politics, pop culture, and know people from all over the world. I have lots of stories to tell.
Always looking forward to sharing what I know with others and learning something new.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I tend to give life advice when I've had to much to drink (so please feel free to stop me). I've been told I'm also a great wingman. I am a great listener, and we can have a great conversation or a grate time if you are up for a night or day out. I'm fairly extroverted, but I grew up around a lot of introverted people, so I get along well with most.
Additionally, I'm an excellent cook. I just love cooking and would probably have been a chef if I wasn't so set on being an engineer. I will definitely cook for you if you are up for it :)
