About Me
Hello, dear unknown visitor of my profile! :)
My name is Christian, I'm from Hamburg, Germany and 27 years old, which is the weighted average of how old I look (17) and how old I feel (87, well sometimes 7, too).
When I'm in Hamburg, I'll try my best to be a good tourist guide for you – I was born here and have lived here most of my life, so I know some places (but certainly not all, I learn every day). Especially, I can tell you a lot of things about the history and development of this bustling port city founded by the old Greeks and having reached highest fame as capital of Denmark in the 16th and 17th century*.
Most of the time, I'm an easy-going and low-maintenance person that I'd say you can have a good conversation with. At least I could talk to me all day, so why shouldn't you be able to do it, too?
I like to engage in more or less intellectual conversations about various topics ranging from how to best open a can to the purpose in life – so if you like that, too, we're going to have a good time.
If you don't like it, you just need to give me a couple of beers, and the world looks different.
Don't say I didn't warn you, though.
Currently, I'm in most cases working out of town during the week, so chances I can host you are higher on weekends! Anyway, if you're planning to come to Hamburg, just send me a message and we can figure things out.
I‘m always happy to receive Couch Requests and you don’t need to worry too much about what to write in there.
Please, just out of respect, make sure to write my name right (or clearly indicate you’re writing it wrong on purpose to make fun of me - it’s not that hard) and tell me in your request what’s your favorite drink so that I can see that you read my profile - or at least the first half of it (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic are fine, I‘m not judging ;)).
*I may have exaggerated a bit here, but I learned that the "About Me" part needs to be catchy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In my opinion, Couchsurfing is a great way to get to know different countries and their cultures, to meet new and – most of the time – interesting people a̶̶n̶̶d̶̶ ̶̶t̶̶o̶̶ ̶̶i̶̶n̶̶c̶̶r̶̶e̶̶a̶̶s̶̶e̶̶ ̶̶a̶̶l̶̶c̶̶o̶̶h̶̶o̶̶l̶̶ ̶̶c̶̶o̶̶n̶̶s̶̶u̶̶m̶̶p̶̶t̶̶i̶̶o̶̶n̶.
I already hosted a couple of people in Milan and Hamburg, and have only had positive experiences so far. Maybe you can add to that. If not, I'll be easily convinced by some food or beer or a good story :).
Also, I very much look forward to my first experience as a surfer, which is planned for this summer. So if you have the doubtful honor to be my first host, please forgive me in advance for any inappropriate behavior.

Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to speak German, if you're for whatever reason interested in that. Also, according to some of the people I hosted so far, I can also teach you how to BE German, although I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.
I would like to learn some expressions in your language, or anything else that you would like to teach me. You're going to find in me an eager, but for most things highly untalented student.
Also, I'm an enthusiast amateur in chess, so if you're up for a game – anytime!
