About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Work towards fulfilling my personal goals as well as my shared goals with my girlfriend Cassie. Go on a few hikes, ride my motorcycle and continue to learn.

ABOUT ME

Hey everybody, my name's Christian. I can say I'm completely happy with what I've been doing with my life the last three years. I moved to Yosemite in 2011 to live and work for a year. During that time, I came to know nature, couch surfing, travel, hitch hiking, and so many other things. It was a huge learning experience. In December 2012 I left for my 20 month trip around South America. I spent 11 months in Brazil, 5 months in Patagonia, and a lot of time in between hitch hiking from place to place. I worked many jobs and would love to tell you more about it in person.
Now Im back in Yosemite enjoying the High Sierra. I backpack and love sharing this place with others, so if you're passing through lets get on the trail and check out some sights.
Happy ventures

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live my life as God wants me to. My plans are a little different than others, but as long as I've got the Big Guy upstairs looking out for me I'll be alright. God can use me as a vessel for his work and love.
A good friend of mine once told me "Life begins at the END of your comfort zone." I've tried to live by this truth since.
Lastly, whenever things go wrong or I need a break from life, I think of John Muir, the guardian of Yosemite National Park and his words "The mountains are calling, and I must go." And than I go to them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted many many travelers from all over the world in my humble cabin in Yosemite. I also spent the grander part of my 2 year trip across South America traveling couch to couch. Some surfers even turned into my family. I love this website and try my best to give back after having received so much during my time abroad.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far so VERY good. I love making friends with people from all walks of life. It really changes you as a person after all the experiences. I've had a great time with this website. Keep them coming!
Thanks to CS I now have friends who are more like family all around the world. Thanks to Anamar in Maracaibo, Venezuela, I didn't end up in a Venezuelan jail. I'm considered part of Grasi's family in Amazonas, Brasil. And Scott from California, USA has helped me through countless problems during my travels. These are just a few examples of the relationships I have made because of CS.

Interests

I love backpacking in the mountains. The High Sierras of Yosemite are simply incredible. Mount Roraima was another world and I've never experienced such a powerful wind like on top of Pico Dos Marins in São Paulo Brazil. If you want to talk about Chile's Patagonia, Jesus, talk about the most beautiful virgin place in the world.
I play music. I sing as well, but if its any good is another story. My instrument of choice is an ukulele. She's the best travel companion. Beautiful, always at my side, and she calls to passer bys with her sweet sweet sound. Traveling wouldn't be the same without her. As of recently I also bought a harmonica. Still dont know what Im doing with it at times, doesnt stop me from making a tune or two though.

Cooking has become a recent interest. I mean shit I love to eat. Why not make things happen for myself in the kitchen instead of waiting on someone else. Lets make something up man.

Other things I find interesting are random dancing, eating until it hurts, quoting comedies, loud music and road trips.
Speaking of food, I love food... let me repeat that, I LOVE food =D .

I try to give everything new a try. YOLO right? (ask me what that means if you don't already know)

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIE BUFF MOVIE BUFF MOVIE BUFF! I love movies. Suspense, comedy, action; you name it and ill watch it. I'll quote the HELL out of a good movie, especially anything Will Ferrel... "I don't know if you know this... but I'm kind of a big deal."

I like music with a good beat that puts a smile on my face and a shake in my hips. I'll dance to just about anything. Join me?

I read travel blogs! Check out hitchtheworld.com. I follow this blog almost religiously. This guy is the reason why I hitch hike on my adventures. Even more, he invited me to join him on his adventures in the Amazon! After paddling three weeks with him in his canoe (not a raft, don't ever say raft haha), I can take on anything.
