About Me

I'm an User Experience Designer & Researcher. http://christielau.me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In 2011 I travelled to Kazimierz Dolny(Poland) on my own, dining in a Jewish place with live music. A nice gent came to me and ask if I was Japanese (He mistook me as the daughter of a Japanese pianist who lived locally) and invited me to sit with his family.

Soon we realised we were all living in London and their son was studying in another architecture school literally next door to my uni(UCL)! We had a nice chat, they treated me as their guest, paid for my meals , showed me around the next day and even drove me back to Warsaw!

Since then I embrace the goodwill of travellers, and offer my help within my capacity. "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded."

Interests

I'm a photographer. Check out my work here - www.clsnaps.cc

Other than that I love exploring London for free/cheap to-dos.
You'd find me in pop-ups, festivals, and new food places.

Alongside my professional projects, my current interests are:

- All-rounded wellbeing of older people

- Sustainable urban community farming for local food consumption

- Skill-building within under-represented communities through participatory photography

Do get in touch if you would like to collaborate or provide inspirations on above causes. Together we can make the change. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2014 I facilitated a Participatory Photography project in Yunnan, China. This was part of a larger research project under PhotoVoice/ODI.

By teaching local residents photography and inviting them to document their lives, we measured the progress of development in the area and its impact to the environment.

Say something about this project if you're sending me a hosting request! :)
