About Me

CURRENT MISSION

After finishing my Master's degree in the beginning of 2018 I decided to sell most of my stuff and leave everything behind for a while, my beloved home in Bamberg, in order to throw myself out into the world and experience what will await me there.
Now, back again in Germany, extraordinary two years lie behind me, solo travelling overland through South East Europe all the way to Iran and then living and working in South East Asia.
A rather spontaneus and unplanned trip and life for the past two years; challenges, failures, leaps forward, personal growing, free spirited!

ABOUT ME

My 20s certainly changed me, a fanatastic couple of years full of adventures, exploring and learning - still ongoing!
Not only during my studies in Bamberg (Germany) and Poznan (Poland) but also while travelling a lot and working or voluteering in different countries throughout the world, I got the opportunity to experience personally, talk and read about many kinds of things, as well as meet all kinds of different people with even more different views on life. All this helped me to shape my own personality, values and expectations of life.
I have learned so much and there's still so much to come!
Looking back on these years now I surely realize that this for me was the right path to choose. I am content with how life has turned out for me so far!

I would describe myself as a very outgoing, patient, positive and enthusiastic woman. There is almost nothing I wouldn't give a try before judging about it - best spontaneously, open minded, cheerful, and always while being grateful for what we are able to experience, positive or negative. I am feeling more comfortable with people who communicate in an open and honest way and I enjoy much talking to people with alternative ways of travelling, living or views on life. During the past years I learned to not expect or take anything for granted and to be adaptive to different ways of life and cultural obligations, to learn off it as it IS fascinating!
I enjoy being sarcastic, now I am afraid to loose this while travelling in countries where no one seems to understand about sarcasm haha, and I love deep and meaningful conversations, exchanging (different) opinions. Any opinion is welcome and respected, only when it comes to racism, sexism or any other discrimination better be prepared for a friendly debate!

IMPORTANT NOTE:

It is best to write your request on short notice. You are more likely to get a positive answer if you write two days before your arrival than two weeks ahead.
Sharing and exchange, isn't that what CS is mostly about? If you surf with me I will be more than happy to spend time and exchange with you, and to show you around. Don't get this the wrong way: Sure sometimes longer travels are exhausting and everyone needs alone-time once in a while, but for me CS is much much more than a free of charge inkeeping.

PHILOSOPHY

"Rivers know this: There's no hurry. We shall get there some day."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfing or at least the original idea behind this community seems to me like one of the more authentic opportunities to get to know countries and people on travels. I support "slow" and sustainable travelling instead of damaging a country's identity by acting like a standard tourist.
I do keep on hosting just to support this community from both angles and to give back at least some of the great and endless hospitality I have received during my own travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I've surfed a couple of times, mostly abroad but also in Germany, and hosted some people as well.
I am looking forward to more surfing and hosting experiences!

Interests

Everything and everyone under the sun and on this beautiful yet exploited world.

I am truly inspired by different continents, countries and what the have to offer, meeting different people and getting to know their ways of life. This is neither always enjoyable nor beautiful; but still. As much as I love life in Franconia in Germany I am always excited to plan future adventures.
I am a real nature lover as I enjoy much being outdoors while camping, hiking, diving, biking, skiing, sailing, or just strolling around outside and collecting flowers or something.
I am super interested in music, arts and crafts, dance, writing, cooking and yoga/meditation - while doing things like that I am feeling the FLOW!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite music? We could talk about that all night!
But I prefer to discover unknown artists who amaze me with their music out of the blue.
The book which brought and brings deep sensation to me (currently) is "Gut gegen Nordwind"; this book...!
I am interested to hear about your recommendations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not easy to choose one particular thing, life is full of those.
Maybe... having the guts to break out of my own comfort zone, to challenge myself repeatedly and to free myself from society's expectations and from being manipulated trough advertising and media.
Consuming and material goods are not very important to me - while wildcamping in a car on several trips ranging from 2 months up to 8 months or simply sleeping in a tent and while sharing a bedroom with another person for 6 months in Poland I learnt to be grateful and to enjoy just the smallest things in life. I discovered for myself that living rather minimalistically led me to some kind of inner freedom and peace.

Just recently I have been travelling solo in East Turkey/Kurdistan and Iran (Middle East) for two months which indeed was a very meaningful and formative experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

There's still so much I want to learn from you.
And I am open to share everything I have or anything you would want to know or learn from me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A self-cooked (german) meal?
A little help around the house?
Sharing about our life stories and cultures and mutual learning.
And definitely my couch back in Germany!
