About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Go to Helsinki!

ABOUT ME

Hello couch surfer, I'm Christina. I'm a graphic designer from a small city in southern Germany, on the border to Switzerland. It's five minutes to Switzerland from here. You can even see the alps sometimes. I like to meet people, I like to talk and I like to listen. I'd like to know who you are :) I like cake. Veeery much. I love design and will always look for places to find myself surrounded by design.
I'm a vegetarian. Not because I don't like the taste of meat, but because I decided to not support this part of food industry with my money anymore.
I finished my studies, worked in Switzerland and now I'm looking for a job as a graphic designer abroad.

PHILOSOPHY

As much as I'm afraid of doing it, I'm much more afraid to regret not doing it. ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I hope to meet nice couch surfers in Helsinki. Unfortunately I can't offer a couch by myself for the time being, but I hope to move soon and host. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In summer 2011 I stayed in Lisbon, Portugal, for almost three weeks. Me and my friend Verena surfed two couches and met really awesome portuguese guys: Joao and Miguel hosted us twice during that time in their crazy old-lady's flat and took us to Festa do Avante (a pretty huge people's fair organized by the communist party). That was a wondeful thing to do: not many tourists, just two blonde girls sourrounded by portuguese people and their wonderful food.
After that we met up with Salvador who is probably the best non-professional tourist guide in the world. He hosted us for many days and showed us so many great places, cooked the best food and told the best stories about the historical background of Lisbon and portuguese Conquerors (I love history!). When we said goodbye to rent a car and drive down the coast, he planned our route to the best beaches to surf. Finally he came around as well (maybe because he missed us too much?:))
This trip to Portugal was probably the best I ever had, thanks to Couchsurfing and the wonderful people you can meet there.
I didn't have the opportunity to surf another couch during the last two years but I really hope to continue this kind of traveling now.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love electronic music, the best music to go out (No, not house music;)). But I'm also open to many other things ( ... maybe except heavy metal ... but you can still convince me).
At the moment I'm listening a lot to Mumford & Sons and Rodriguez - Cold fact. »Searching for sugar man«, the movie about the unknown but amazing musician Rodriguez impressed me a lot. Maybe that was one of the best movies I've seen during the last months.
I used to read a lot, but somehow there wasn't much time left lately. Maybe you can recommend a book to me?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Go to Lisbon, the place where I was born (but left at the age of three), and track down the house, where my family used to live, and meet our former landlord couple there. Finding myself sitting on their couch, enjoying a g i a n t portuguese meal and browsing through their old photo albums, where I found: myself – a little blonde girl playing with the landlord's children.
hehe, that was amazing. (thanks, CS-Salvador)
