About Me

CURRENT MISSION

The worst mistake you can make is thinking you're alive when you're really in life's waiting room.

ABOUT ME

Overall I'm a pretty down to earth gal...very open minded and not at all judgemental. Everyone likes to be heard, so I always try to listen.

I love hanging out with my friends, drinking a few brewskies and just having an all around good time. Dance parties are awesome and random adventures are the best. I enjoy every ounce of spontaneity I am able to experience.

I have many likes...some include: rad music, art, sushi, cooking healthy food, intelligent conversation, happy/optimistic people, the scent of forests in summer time, sun through the trees, traveling, animals, love. I also LOVE SCARVES! Yes scarves. I have tons but I still buy more...

I don't have nearly as many dislikes as I do likes, but some examples are: pretentious folk, pessimistic/negative/cynical people, the sound of cotton balls being rubbed together, war

Words that describe me according to: similarminds(dot)com/global-adv.html . Take the quiz, it's wild how accurate it is!
social, outgoing, worry free, optimistic, upbeat, tough, likes large parties, makes friends easily, rarely irritated, open, enjoys leadership, trusting, dominant, thrill seeker, strong, does not like to be alone, assertive, mind over heart, confident, controlling, feels desirable, likes the spotlight, loves food, social chameleon, hard working, concerned about others

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life to learn new things and meet interesting people. I love hearing people's stories and helping people whenever I can.

I'll list a few quotes I try to think about each day

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” Einstein

"Everything is for the best in the best of all possible worlds"- Candide by Voltaire

from Waking Life:

"The trick is to combine your waking rational abilities with the infinite possibilities of your dreams. Because, if you can do that, you can do anything."

"The worst mistake that you can make is to think you're alive when really you're asleep in life's waiting room. "

"The idea is to remain in a state of constant departure while always arriving."

From Eternal Sunshine:

"Talking isn't necessarily communicating."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

New to CS but looking forward to participating both as a host and as a surfer!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No "official" experience, but I've lent my living room floor to a few touring bands here and there, and also had the pleasure of staying with other kind souls whilst touring with a band.

One notable fun night: Our hotel was overbooked and a fan from a show let us stay at her place. At 3am no one could sleep and we decided to grab a box of wine and go night swimming in the Atlantic (we were in North Carolina). The water was warm and the stars were so bright. It was one of my favorite moments on tour.

Music, Movies, and Books

Fun fact: I've worked on the sets of a few larger budget indie productions so I love film!

Movies: I've seen TONS of movies...a few notable ones of varying genres I really enjoyed are: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Waking Life, Old School, Ip Man, Crazy Stupid Love, Inception, Catch Me if you Can, 50/50, 500 Days of Summer, Just about anything with Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Zoey Dechanel, Jason Segal, Joseph Gordon Levitt. I also really love old school cinema.

Music: Very eclectic taste. I like a TON of music so I'll list a few bands/artists of different generes I enjoy and put it this way...if you put my ipod on random it could play: The Strokes, Bassnectar, Johnny Cash, Immortal Technique, Two Door Cinema Club, Does it Offend You Yeah, Innerpartysystem,The Shins, Broken Bells, Peter Bjorn and John, Ludacris, Frank Sinatra...I think you get the idea.

Books: I'm move of an avid blog/article/wiki reader and don't read books very often anymore...however I'm a big fan of Malcom Gladwell's "Blink" and "The Tipping Point"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Okay so it's not THAT amazing but...

I photographed a wedding in Italy this past summer and had the opportunity to travel a bit afterwards. My boyfriend attended with me and we ventured to the Amalfi Coast and rented a scooter for a nice cruise along the coastline. After passing a fruitstand and deciding to stop, I asked the man running it if I could take his photo. He happily obliged on the condition I join him!

Before we took the picture, he put a "crown" of Peperoncinos (a red chilli pepper) on my head and also gave me a Peperoncino necklace. Although simple, It was an awesome highlight from my trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to give photography lessons (on how to use the Manual function) to anyone interested. I'm also a decent cook.

I'd love to learn anything anyone is willing to teach me! Definitely would love to learn how to prepare food unique to the culture of any CS that is staying with me.
