About Me

2021 update: I am fully vaccinated, but still take full precautions with Covid-19. I would prefer to be in the company of people who are also vaccinated and exercising caution.

I’ve lived most of my life in New Jersey (have also lived in upstate New York and Ohio), but over the past several years I have been working on broadening my horizons and making travel more of a priority. I have worked in the fields of veterinary medicine as well as human pathology and toxicology, but I have definitely developed a “work to live, not live to work” approach life. I would love to work on a van conversion, and down the road live in a tiny home community.

I love hearing experiences and points of view of others, as well as sharing experiences myself. I also enjoy outdoor adventures, wildlife, art (both appreciating and creating it), and learning about new places I’m visiting/planning to visit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is an amazing tool to bring together incredibly diverse people who all have a love for traveling, sharing experiences, and appreciating different cultures and ways of life. I hope to be able to connect with people in all the areas I travel to, as traveling to me is less about seeing as many tourist attractions as possible, and more about gaining a better understanding of the local culture and what it’s like to live in a given place.

My current living situation unfortunately doesn’t allow me to host other surfers (as I am not the owner of the home), but I hope to someday be able to open my doors to fellow travelers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music— I enjoy a wide variety of music genres, but especially rock/classic rock, alternative, and catchy pop songs. I consider myself a very “easygoing music listener.” Some favorite bands/artists include Paramore, Fleetwood Mac, Tegan & Sara, Metric, & Lady Gaga.

Movies— I’m almost always game for a horror movie or psychological thriller, and I’ve finally gotten into the Marvel universe. Aside from that, favorites include Silence of the Lambs, Girl Interrupted, The Blindside, The Proposal, The Descent.

Books— My favorite author is Harlan Coben (an NJ native). He writes suspense/thriller novels, and I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read of his. Also...The Picture of Dorian Gray and Hyperbole and a Half (I’ve never laughed out loud at a book so much).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travelled all around Europe with my best friend (and frequent travel partner) for 4 months in the summer of 2018.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to share experiences and good conversation with hosts. I very much enjoy a casual night in hearing about my host’s experiences with couchsurfing and traveling in general. Also, my humor. I love a good laugh.

If there is ever a situation where a host is busier during a stay, I am very capable of being a more independent guest.
I take note of how a host manages their living space, taking care to follow all house rules and stay very self-contained.
