About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am a very curious person, so I am always learning. I'm excited about social justice and the ability of human beings to use ingenuity and creativity to solve real problems. I want to make a difference for good in the world, and I love to meet other people who are making a difference in their own big or small ways.

ABOUT ME

I love to laugh . . . I love to dance. I am bookish, sometimes introverted, and sometimes spur-of-the moment and quite extroverted. I am spiritual, but not religious. I love fair trade coffee, trying new foods, going on adventures big and small.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a beautiful concept . . . how wonderful to give people a space to get to know each other, help each other explore the world :o)

Interests

My main hobby is reading - I LOVE to read. I love to take in information, research a subject, talk to others about what I am learning. I also love to walk outside for exercise and to experience nature. I love art, music, movies, beauty . . . I love long drives, new experiences, a glass of Merlot, other cultures, languages . . . I love coffee, the mountains, the ocean, and forests . . . I love my family and friends more than anything.

Music, Movies, and Books

The music of my life is smooth jazz . . . but I love a lot of different kinds of music . . . Celtic, disco, funk, rock, pop, classical, folk/acoustic . . . I love StarTrek, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and lots of other great movies . . . I love documentaries (nature, social, political, health).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In October of 2014, I went with a small production team to Uganda to film a documentary about an American woman living and working in the slums of Kampala. The Sanyu Project became the beautiful film, "A Vision of Destiny", which premiered in Oklahoma City in February of 2015. That film is now making it's way into the hands of people all over the U.S. raising funds for a world-class international school for the children of the slums of Kampala, Uganda. You can see the trailer, photos from our travels, and more at www.thesanyuproject.com

Teach, Learn, Share

I love the word empowerment. If I could impart one thing to anyone, I would want them to come away from our time together more empowered, more optimistic, more encouraged, ready to take the next step in their lives. I am currently learning Spanish; I would love to become fluent in this and possibly other languages.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, if you need help with writing, editing, etc. I can hook you up. I am a good listener, a loyal friend, and an idea person. If you need encouragement or some wise counsel, I can probably help. I've been married for 30 years, raised 6 wonderful children (3 boys and 3 girls), and, believe me, I've seen it all and lived to tell about it. And I can probably give you a little cash . . .
