ABOUT ME

I'm from New Zealand originally (rugby, hobbits), and now I'm a post grad student in England. Which means I have a huuuuuuuge chance to travel around Europe and the world and see as much as I can! Plus I can make my girlfriend jealous with all my photos :P

I've travelled heaps, mostly backpacking and hostels, and so I know how important it is to be considerate to other travellers. I don't smoke but it doesn't bother me if you do. I guess overall I'm pretty relaxed really.

I think that the best way to see a new place is to actually stop and see it, to spend some time with the people and stop and smell the flowers and just amble. Running from tourist hot spot to tourist hot spot is not so much fun - I don't like tickbox tourism. Umm, not sure what else to write about... if you have any questions just ask away :)

Live and let live. There's so much to see and do, why waste energy trying to stop other people seeing and doing?

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Always happy to show people around Oxford - from the streets it's a bit grim and stoney, but once you get inside the colleges... So green, so much grass!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch surfed for a week in the Netherlands (Amstelhoek, Hilversum and Den Haag) with some absolutely amazing people, and have hosted in Oxford too.

Interests

Rock climbing, skiing, theatre and acting, learning Mandarin Chinese (and then some more languages, but let's start with just one!), chess, writing, teaching myself to draw. And dancing! I love dancing - I've done some competitive ballroom and latin dancing, but I've just got on to salsa and oh wow it's so relaxing and so much fun!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tramping in the Southern alps, being three days walk from the nearest anything human, not even a fence nearby, surrounded by native birds and plants... incredible, so beautifully peaceful and zen and I read this and the words don't even come close. I just can't describe it, what impression this made on me. I love tramping, I love being out amongst the wilds and with nature!

And bungee jumping! Not peaceful, not zen - but biggest rush of my life!
