About Me

CURRENT MISSION

combine ICT with self sufficiency

ABOUT ME

I live in the Belgian Ardennen where live the life people used to have in the past. Gardening, cutting wood, live with the kids in the open. Read a lot of books and drink the best Belgian Beers.

PHILOSOPHY

Live your life, not the life others want you to live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are owner of a farm where there is also some space outside to leave your caravan, mobielhome or tent. I'm sorry but we can not have people on our actual couch as we have a bussiness at the place we live.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not so much. But I'm very happy when I can just put my tent up.

Interests

I make my own honey, have pigs, horse, chickens, two very smart dogs and some rabbits. We eat our own meat, vegetables and own fruit.
We like cocooning during the winter next to the woodstove . I also make my own constructions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

With 4 friends we were dropped in the Yukon(Canada) at 100 km from the first available village Mayo. We had to make a raft on the Steward River to get back in time (after 1 month). We did the trip without gps or other outside communications. We had a compas+map. It was madness, but we were young.

With my wife we had the most exotic new year evening of 2000 that you can think of. Dropped on a tropical island in Indonesia without any accommodation, just a crazy German as host, sleeping on the ground, no running tap-water, pure white beaches, no tourists, no nothing, just the perfect bounty feeling. There we have eating a massive tuna fish(fresh from the hook) on a small campfire cut by machete into big steaks. (we had at that time no idea of value of the food we were eating, it was just fish for us) We were so wrong!.

We once have done a Kano tour in the Belgian Ardennes at -21°C, where we were dropped in the water at night with the massive ice cubes floating next to our boat. We slept without any tent. (I also took my summer sleeping bag with me instead of the winter-one). Yes I had it very cold during the nights!
