About Me

Hi, I'm Chris and I'm from England. I know, nobody's perfect! Currently I'm living in Paris where I'm a cook in a restaurant. When I'm not busy in the kitchen (which is most of the time), I try to relax and follow my heart. People and welfare are important to me. I like to bring a smile to those around me; even if it's a simple "how are you?" I often think of the Dalais Lama's advice. "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This offers an opportunity to connect with real people in the community and share our life experiences. An opportunity to play our roles of host and guest. The concept of Couchsurfing makes visiting new places financially affordable helping to open the world up to those of on a budget. I believe travel is one way to an open mind.

Interests

Here I thought I would describe some of the things I like to do. If you recognize yourself in some of them, perhaps we have some things in common to talk about. Books, surprises, last minute plans, open mind, going out (but also staying in), parks, cooking, work, people, dessert first ;) sense of humor about yourself, awareness. I believe the manner in which we think influences the reality. A positive thought full of energy changes our reality.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love electronic music that makes me feel calm. This week's favourite album is The Universe Smiles Upon You by Khruangbin. Go check it out! For parties, I'm a lover of 90s Hip Hop. "If I Ruled the World" by Naz.. oh yeah! My favourite French film is Betty Blue. I didn't cry at the end... honest! Favourite book would be Tender is the Night F. Scott Fitzgerald. Soo bittersweet that one!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I came to Paris with no job, no accommodation, no connections or friends. Not that amazing I know, but it gives me hope I can do the same thing somewhere else.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm an understated person. You know the type that you hardly notice that they are there. Well that's me, but I also have a strong sense of responsibility and I'm confident I have the qualities to be a good guest. Although I would describe myself as quiet, I like good conversation too and I'm not bad in the kitchen too! (It's what I'm paid to do.)
