About Me
Hello, I’m Christopher.
I’m blessed to say that I've done a lot in this life of mine. I spent the first half chasing all the things we’re told we’re supposed to chase. Money, houses, the stuff you put in those houses, cars... I can't say it was very fulfilling. Fortunately and painfully, I lost it all and that’s when life actually began for me. It is also why I cannot host others, as I have no where to host :-\
I've owned a business, gave some time to IT, but found my purpose when I went to India and became a teacher. I loved it and I still do. The door to the world opened for me when I was hired to teach in China. I lived there for several years and my eyes, mind and heart were opened by its wonderful people.
When I left for Greece for the Chinese New Year break, I had no idea I would not be returning as covid had closed that segment of my life. I’ve been traveling ever since - discovering the necessities of life that I can fit into a backpack and the amazing people in some of the most beautiful places around the world. The warmth, kindness and connection I’ve experienced in my travels has been truly overwhelming.
For the longest time I’ve had the privilege of meeting people from all over the world as I’ve travelled and stayed in hostels, and many of the people I’ve met have shared their wonderful stories of Couchsurfing with me. It’s inspired me to try Couchsurfing myself. I value connection and I enjoy meeting and learning about places and cultures from local people, sharing a meal, a story or an idea, and having the chance to see the world through the eyes of others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’ve always been drawn to the fascinating stories and lives of the people I’ve met on my travels. Couchsurfing feels like another way that I can connect more deeply with the people of this world, and to hear and share in their stories, experiences and adventures.

Music: Folk/rock, alternative, local music (currently Turkish and Bosnian)

Books: Science fiction, ‘Four reasons for the elimination of television’, All of the lonely planet books, ‘travel the world on $10 a day’, philosophy, history (currently learning about the Balkans), just about anything that is recommended or that I find on the 'share shelf' in hostels.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I’ve had the great privilege of doing many amazing things and meeting many wonderful people, but none of that would have happened if I hadn't been living out of my backpack for the last four years. To me, there’s something about minimalism that brings clarity to things.
